All students who are on Check and Connect meet Carleen in the Cafeteria right before lunch starts.

You asked! And now it’s coming back! The Churchill Dance Team is reorganizing!! We are inviting everyone who loves to dance to come to the Choir room next Wednesday, October 3rd during lunch.

Congratulations to Kayla Bundy, Sara Wright and Lindy Myers for receiving a National Merit Scholarship Letter of Commendation. Way to go!

Homecoming:

Homecoming tickets are now on sale!! Prices are $10.00 with ASB, $12.00 without and $15.00 at the door. Pictures will be taken at homecoming and are $10.00. What a deal! Also, to get into the dance you will need your student ID and if you have a guest you must have the guest pass turned into the office by noon Wednesday.

School-to-Career:

No cost ASVAB Testing for seniors will be on Testing Day, Wednesday, October17th. Sign up now in the School-to-Career office now located in room C-2.

Leadership:

Spanish IB

There will be a short meeting today, in room F-46. All students who are planning or even thinking abut taking the Spanish IB test this year MUST attend this meeting. The meeting starts promptly at 12:40pm.

Anyone interested in receiving community service hours by working in the student store meet in room J-29 (Noah’s room), today at lunch.

Girls Soccer:

Come to Papa’s Pizza on west 11th today, and support Churchill Girls Soccer! Come pick up a flyer in the front office. Support Churchill Girls soccer!

Career Center:

Seniors: Interested in scholarships to help with college expenses? There are 5 different ones posted in the Career Center for which our school will nominate a candidate.

College visit from Seattle University today, at 10:00am.

College visit from Whitman College tomorrow, at 11:00am.

Leadership:

Spirit Week is this week Lancers! Tuesday is Retro Day, Wednesday is Celebrity Day, Thursday is Twin Day and Friday is CHS Day! Show your school spirit by dressing up each day.

Freshmen elections will be held Wednesday, during lunch in the cafeteria. Freshmen if you want to vote make sure to be there.

Homecoming:

Nominations for homecoming court are today. Come by the planters, during lunch or after school to nominate people for homecoming court.

If you are interested in earning community service hours, help set up for the homecoming game or dance! Talk to Julie Stelle in the Career Center for more information!

Career Center:

Interested in travelling abroad? The Rotary Youth Exchange Program will hold an informational meeting on September 27th at 7:30pm in the Career Center. All are welcome.

College visit from Seattle University tomorrow, at 10:00am. Located in Seattle Washington, this university’s strengths are in environmental studies, liberal arts, history and the sciences.

College visit from Whitman College on Wednesday, at 11:00am. Located in Walla Walla Washington, this college is known for environmental studies, and liberal arts programs.

School Store:

Anyone interested in receiving community service hours by working in the student store either before school or during lunch are welcome to meet in room J-29 (Noah’s room), tomorrow at lunch.

Girls Soccer:

Robotic Club:

Community Service and Free Parking!

Earn four hours of community service AND a free parking spot for tomorrow’s Duck game! Twin Oaks Elementary needs four volunteers for a fundraiser this Saturday, Sept. 22, from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Twin Oaks is collecting donations for parking at the EWEB parking lont on 4th St., under the Ferry St. Bridge during the U of O home game. Proctors for Tests Needed!

We are gearing up for the big school wide testing day on Wednesday, October 17th.  If you are interested in proctoring, give Deb Vobora a call or email. Information below.

Career Center:

Seniors, still need to take the ACT? Deadline to sign up for the October 27th test is this Friday, September 21st. If you want to take this test, come down to the Career Center for information.

College Visits: Whittier College in California will visit tomorrow at 8:15am. Specializing in Liberal Arts Programs, Music, Art, Theatre, Psychology and Design your Major Program. Clairmont McKenna College in California will visit tomorrow at 11:15am. Specializes in Pre-Med, Biology, International Relations, Government and Psychology.

Lockers:

For Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors – Regarding lockers – If you signed up for a locker and you have no lock on it by today (Thursday), it will be up for adoption on Friday (the 21st).

Awakening:

Come to Awakening! Join us in Eagen’s room, today at lunch for friends, food and a good time! See you there!

The Bookworm Club is Churchill’s student book reading group. We meet once a month to share books we like and enjoy lunch together. We also compete in the Oregon Battle of the Books! First meeting is tomorrow at lunch in the Library and bagels and snacks are provided. We need you if you love books!!

Rotary Youth Exchange is Seeking Applicants for Summer 2013

The Rotary Clubs of Eugene are seeking applicants who would like to become exchange students under the Rotary Youth  Exchange Programs. This year we will be talking about short term and long term exchanges. Students and parents interested in the Rotary Exchange program should plan to attend one of the following informational meetings:

News You Can Use:

Attention Juniors and Seniors! This year we’re combining Junior and Senior Nights into one fun and information packed evening. Plan on bringing your parental units on Wednesday, Oct. 3rd, @7pm in the CHS auditorium. Important information on college/career planning, testing, graduation requirements, financial aid, and senior activities will be provided.

The career center will be open after the program for questions and handouts.

 

Save the date for the College Fair!!

The Mid-Willamette College is Sunday, October 14 from 12-3pm @ LCC, Building 5, Main Gym.

Nearly 100 different college/university representatives will be there to answer your questions. There will be Admissions information, financial aid guidance, on-campus living materials and transitioning support.

There will also be two 40-minute information sessions regarding admissions and financial aid.

$500 college scholarships for seniors (just enter and win)

This is free to attend, we look forward to seeing you there!
