Halloween Costumes:

Halloween costumes must be school appropriate. Do not bring replica’s of weapons and no masks that cover your face.

Swimming:

There will be a meeting at lunch, today, in Noah Glusman’s room for those who are interested in swimming.

Latino Student Union:

The University of Oregon is hosting a Dia De Las Muertas event at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at 6:00pm tomorrow night. The U of O will be hosting the event at 6:00pm at the EMU on Friday night.

Key Club:

Hey, need community service hours and have a blast doing it? Come to Key Club Thursday mornings from 8:00 to 8:30am in room H-5.

Sports Registration:

All students hoping to participate in a 2012 winter sport or club must register with parents on Wednesday, November 7th in the Auditorium at 5:30pm. Sports forms and registration information are available to download on the Churchill website. Try-outs and practices begin Tuesday, November 13th. All students wanting to try-out or practice must be cleared. Don’t miss sports registration. See the office for more information.

Career Center:

Seniors considering 4 year degree should finish testing in December. Registration deadlines for the December SAT is tomorrow. The December deadline for ACT is Friday. Please come to the Career Center for more information.

George Fox University is visiting today at 11:30, a local Christian college in Newberg. Largest programs are nursing, engineering, and many more.

Drama:

Auditions for Legally Blonde – The musical begin this Thursday. Student information packets are now available in the office and the choir room. You need to get one of these packets and get family signatures when you come to audition. Dance auditions are Friday and final auditions are next Monday. Rehearsals begin November 14th and performances begin January 18th.

Mr. Wang Juncai Visits Churchill

Mr. Wang Juncai is the vice principal of the No. 2 High School of Shaanxi District in Xi’an City. The school serves 4500 students in grades 10-12 and has about 257 faculty.

Xi’an is the capital of the Shaanxi province, and a subprovincial city in the People’s Republic of China. One of the oldest cities in China, with more than 3,100 years of history, the city was known as Chang’an before the Ming Dynasty. It is known for the Terracotta Army, and for being the gateway city to the Silk Route.

Registration Night & Mandatory Sports Meeting

Welcome to Lancer Winter Sports!

All parents with students hoping to participate in a 2012 WINTER sport or club must register at Churchill on Wednesday, November 7, in the Auditorium, 5:30 PM.

Winter Sports Options:

Boys Basketball ($200) *** Girls Basketball ($200) *** Swimming ($150)
*** Wrestling ($200) *** Dance ($100) *** Cheer ($100) if brand new ***
Additionally to sports fee above, all athletes must pay annual $30 ASB fee

Registration Night Requirements:

  • Download and properly complete/sign all registration forms (Forms available HERE) .
  • All fees must be paid by November 7 , or a payment plan contract signed and approved, *** This includes “Try-Out” sports. *** ( Payments for sports requiring try-outs will not be processed right away. Following try-outs, any payment by a student making the team will be processed; payments by students not making the team will be returned. Please leave money orders blank.) *** Fees only may be paid early at the Churchill Finance Office, prior to Nov. 7 th . (At this time, fees may be paid by check/money order or cash only.) All other registration paperwork cannot be processed early , and must be submitted by a parent at the Nov. 7 th Registration Night.
  • Each student must have a current sports physical on file that is good through Mar 20, 2013 . (You may call the Health Center at 541-790-5227 to check if your student’s physical is up-to-date.)
  • Each student must be covered by insurance, with a group policy number noted. Students are NOT eligible for practice or try-outs until insurance is secured with a policy number! School insurance policies are available, but may take up to two weeks to process. Call the office at 541-790-5100 for more information…
  • Each student must have passed at least five classes at the end of the 2011-12 2 nd Semester to be eligible, and must be enrolled in and passing four classes currently. Grades will be checked at Registration Night.
  • Fee Reduction Policy (Free & Reduced Meal Status): In order to qualify for the Sports/Club Fee Reduction at registration, students must present yearly documentation verifying their Free & Reduced Meal status. ***If there is no documentation at registration night, students are required to pay in full.***
  • Apply Online (Faster process!)… You may complete an online Free & Reduced Meal Application at: https://district.ode.state.or.us/apps/frlapp/default.aspx.
  • Apply by Mail – Print and complete the attached documents… REMEMBER! It takes up to ten days if applying by mail for Free & Reduced Meal status for documentation to be mailed home, so don’t delay!

Churchill Baseball:

Baseball players, if you are planning on playing baseball this spring, you are strongly encouraged to attend the fundraiser cleanup of Matthew Knight Arena this Sunday at 7:00pm. The hours spent can also be recorded for community service time.

Career Center:

On Monday, we have 4 Liberal Arts private schools and 1 public university visiting. They are: Clark University of Massachusetts at 8:40am, Carleton College from Minnesota at 10:15am, Colorado State University at 11:30am, Pacific University of Oregon at 1:00pm and St. Olaf College of Minnesota at 2:30pm.

UO and OSU College Application Workshops!

                    Uof O will be here on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 6-8:30pm

                   OSU will be here on Wed. Nov. 28 from 2-3:30pm

They will be here to conduct an application workshop. The students will be walked through the process, and the representative will take the applications with them that day! You can’t beat this deal with a stick. Space is limited, so you must sign up in advance to attend. Call or stop by the career center for more information.

International Study Abroad Fair

Eugene International High School is sponsoring the annual INTERNATIONAL STUDY ABROAD FAIR.

The 2012 International Study Abroad Fair will take place on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7:00pm in the Cafeteria at Sheldon High School located at 2455 Willakenzie Road, Eugene, Oregon.

We are extending an invitation to all central Lane County high school students and parents to share in this opportunity. Various study abroad organizations will be on hand to provide information to interested students and parents. This event is free of charge and will help students learn about opportunities to become learners in the global classroom. A flyer is attached.
