  • Go to https://password.lane.edu

  • Submit!
  • If you see an error message, carefully read it, correct any problems with your submission, and try again
  • If your current password doesn’t work, ask a teacher or staff member to reset it for you

Excerpt and brief explanation from “New Password Policy for Students in Grades 6 to 12” by 4J Director of Technology, Peter Tromba:

Starting October 22, a new password policy for students will go into effect. The reason for this change is that the district has experienced attacks on student accounts and district resources that are made possible because the first password a student gets is generic and easy to guess. Starting on the 22nd, students can change their password to a more hard-to-guess password and by November 1, students will not be able to access the internet, email, or other district resources unless they have done this.

All users (both students and staff) can set their passwords from school or from any device connected to the Internet by going to:

https://password.lane.edu

All students, even those who have already changed their password in the past, will need to choose a new password. Instructions on this site explain that the password needs to be complex enough so that it is not easy to hack.
