We all want our kids to graduate and successfully transition into adulthood. We’re here to help. The Career Center is here to aid parents just as much as students. We urge you to take advantage of all we have to offer, from checking on your child’s graduation progress to researching scholarship opportunities and attending college visits. News you can Use:

Gates Millennium Scholarship: 1,000 students per year are selected. Awards encompass tuition, fees, books and living expenses for the academic year. Requirements are: Must be a student of color, Be a citizen or a legal permanent resident of the United States, Have a GPA of 3.3 or higher, Have demonstrated leadership abililities, Meet the eligibility criteria for a Federal Pell Grant. Yes, this is a labor intensive scholarship to apply for, but less than one month of hard work could pay more than a year’s worth of a full time job.


The Junior projects have started. Betsy will be coming to your English classes to go over the requirements and deadlines. NOTE:  If you do Not have an English class this trimester you must come in and make an appointment with Betsy.


Graduation is coming up fast! Are you ready? Stop by the career center and make sure you’ve got all your graduation requirements met:

  1. Development of a 4 Year Education Plan and Profile including the Sophomore and Junior Career Center Projects.
  2. Completion of Community Service: 40 hours CHC, 130 hours IHS
  3. Completion of an Extended Application Project (LEAP) which challenges and helps students apply academic and career related knowledge and skills. This activity will be completed during the junior or senior year.

Parents of Seniors: Feel free to contact us any time to check your student’s status. Sorry Seniors, it had to be done.
