People for Peace:

Does yoga, ty chee, peace, or social injustice spark your interest? Then meet at 3:30pm in Lisa’s room, J-25, on Peace Wednesday, April 3rd.

School to Career:

The Fire and EMS Career Day will be Friday, April 5th, at the Eugene Fire and Police Training Center. Students must be at least 15 by the day of the event. To sign up and pick up permission slips, see Mary Beth in the School to Careers office in room C-2 today.

Prom:

To all you aspiring artists: Prom team needs you! Submit your original ticket designs to the front office by April 2nd. The winner will have his or her design featured on the prom ticket, and will receive a free ticket. Entries must match the theme: Casino Royale and be submitted to the front office by April 2nd.

Seniors: So many great scholarship are available…many with guaranteed Churchill winners and we don’t have any applicants! Please pick up an application in the Career Center today!

Senior Grad Party Fundraiser:

Panda Express fundraiser for Senior Grad Party! Stop by the front office and pick up a flyer and visit Panda Express from Noon to 9:00pm, today, to help the seniors.

Mr. Lancer:

After Spring break there will be a meeting for senior girls to decorate for Mr. Lancer. Keep your eyes and ears open for more details.

So Many Scholarships, so few students applying! Parents and students are greatly encouraged to check out our scholarship web link or stop by the career center for more information.

FAFSA: It’s not too late to file! You don’t need to have your taxes finished before you file, you can use last years’ as an estimate.

LCC Scholarships: Deadline is March 14 (at 8:59pm), start your essays now. The Lane Community Foundation offered almost $700,000 in scholarships to Lane students last year! For list of scholarships and more information, go to

Graduation is coming up fast! Are you ready? Stop by the career center and make sure you’ve got all your graduation requirements met:

  1. Development of a 4 Year Education Plan and Profile including the Sophomore and Junior Career Center Projects.
  2. Completion of Community Service: 40 hours CHC, 130 hours IHS
  3. Completion of an Extended Application Project (LEAP) which challenges and helps students apply academic and career related knowledge and skills. This activity will be completed during the junior or senior year.

Parents of Seniors: Feel free to contact us any time to check your student’s status. Sorry Seniors, it had to be done.

Seniors should complete the online FAFSA form (2013-1014) beginning in January, 2013.  Help is available! See Betsy (in the career center), Oscar or Shannon.

All seniors who already have a PIN should stop by the Career Center and let Betsy know the good news.

 

Juniors:

You should have finished your Junior projects by the end of January.  If you have not finished, you need to make an appointment to come see Betsy ASAP!

You should be signing up for ACT and/or SATs. In most cases, you can take the tests multiple times and the schools will take your higher score. Come to the career center for more information.

Interested in a career in Government? Boys State is offering a week long leadership camp this summer. Any students interested should stop by the career center for applications and more info. Deadline for application is March 20.

Sophomores:

Looking for a great leadership opportunity? Camp RYLA is a 6 day leadership camp for high school sophomores who have a strong desire to make their school or community a better place.  If you’re interested you should come to the career center for applications and information. Application deadline is March 11.

Sophomore Projects have begun. If you do not have an English class, please come to the career center for information.

You can now access CIS at home! CIS for internet has current information about work, education and training, and financial aid-written especially for Oregonians. Get information to help you learn:

  • How to set career goals
  • Where to go to school for a degree or technical training

Volunteer at the Book Sale: Volunteers are needed to work the annual book sale on 4/12 thru 4/14. Call 541-484-1452 or email booksalevolunteer@gmail.com.

The Community Garden (behind Churchill High School) is looking for people to help with the spring cleanup on Saturdays from 10-2pm. No need to call ahead, just show up.

Churchill High School Track and Field team will be offering hours to all students who are able to help run the meets for the following dates: Tues., March 19, Thurs. April 4, Tues. April 16, Tues.
