Seniors:

All seniors will need to have signed permission slips to go to the Senior Breakfast on the buses. If you are 18, you can sign your own permission slip. Slips are available on the Seniors 13! Webpage, or in the front office. Get them turned in soon.

Notices were mailed out yesterday to parents showing what is still owed and what grad requirements are still needed to be completed. Remember, if you are not cleared, you will not be able to purchase grad tickets or sign up for walking partners. Check the list today!

GSA:

There will be a GSA meeting today at lunch in room F-49.

School-to-Career:

Interested in a job doing front office entry level work at a local technology business? If you are a junior and interested in work through the summer and next year, please contact Mary Beth in the School-to-Careers office in room C-2.

Thurs. May 9- Mini College Fair at Willamette High School. 6-8:30pm in the auditorium. 50 colleges/ universities will be represented. There will be workshops on applying, financial aid, etc. Everyone is invited.

Wed. May 22- LCC Placement testing. This is your last chance to take your placement testing at CHS. Come to the Career Center to sign up.

Seniors:

So Many Scholarships, so few students applying! Parents and students are greatly encouraged to check out our scholarship web link or stop by the career center for more information.

FAFSA: It’s not too late to file! You don’t need to have your taxes finished before you file, you can use last years’ as an estimate.


Graduation is coming up fast! Are you ready? Stop by the career center and make sure you’ve got all your graduation requirements met:

  1. Development of a 4 Year Education Plan and Profile including the Sophomore and Junior Career Center Projects.
  2. Completion of Community Service: 40 hours CHC, 130 hours IHS
  3. Completion of an Extended Application Project (LEAP) which challenges and helps students apply academic and career related knowledge and skills. This activity will be completed during the junior or senior year.

Parents of Seniors: Feel free to contact us any time to check your student’s status. Sorry Seniors, it had to be done.

Seniors should complete the online FAFSA form (2013-1014) beginning in January, 2013.  Help is available! See Betsy (in the career center), Oscar or Shannon.

All seniors who already have a PIN should stop by the Career Center and let Betsy know the good news.

 

Juniors:

You should have finished your Junior projects by the end of January.  If you have not finished, you need to make an appointment to come see Betsy ASAP!

You should be signing up for ACT and/or SATs. In most cases, you can take the tests multiple times and the schools will take your higher score. Come to the career center for more information.

 

Sophomores:

Sophomore Projects have begun. If you do not have an English class, please come to the career center for information.

 

Everyone:

You can now access CIS at home! CIS for internet has current information about work, education and training, and financial aid-written especially for Oregonians. Get information to help you learn:

  • How to set career goals
  • Where to go to school for a degree or technical training
  • What to study in school
  • How to pay for college
  • How to get and keep a job

Still Looking for Community Service Hours? We can help! The following opportunities are available and people are needed!

Volunteer at the Book Sale: Volunteers are needed to work the annual book sale on 4/12 thru 4/14. Call 541-484-1452 or email booksalevolunteer@gmail.com.

The Community Garden (behind Churchill High School) is looking for people to help with the spring cleanup on Saturdays from 10-2pm. No need to call ahead, just show up.

Churchill High School Track and Field team will be offering hours to all students who are able to help run the meets for the following dates:  Tues. April 16, Tues. May 7. Please see Julie Stelle at the front office for sign ups. For any questions please call George Walcott at (541) 517-4270.
