Picture Retakes

Picture retake day is on Monday, October 7th not Tuesday the 8th.

Career Center:

Students – Two great schools are here to meet with you today. The University of Portland is in the Career Center at 11:00am and Gonzaga at 1:00pm. Come to the Career Center and check them out.

AVID:

Attention AVID students – If you would like to be a part of the student school store, please come to an informational meeting in room F-36 today, during lunch. Please see Ian Ogden for more information.

Art Club:

Are you creative? Do you love to paint and draw? Come to Art Club today, in room B-1 during lunch. We’ve got our first mural to begin. See Mrs. “K” for questions.

Leadership:

Blackburn vs Schirmer vs Lemay, go head to head..to head in the battle of the beards! This week – today and tomorrow during lunch meet at the rock to place your guess on who will shave first. Two ways to win: First, Guess the teacher who shaves first and second, guess the date the first teacher will shave. Each ticket costs $1.00.

Thespians:

Do you love theatre? Come to the auditorium during lunch today, to be part of the Thespian club.

West End:

The West End Performing Arts are holding auditions for their December play – Holmes for the Holidays. We need a cast of 8 for this show. Auditions are tomorrow, from 3:40 until 5:45pm. Information is available in the choir room. Auditioning is a great experience.

9/25 Saxton and Golden STEM Studio Forum

with Rob Saxton, Oregon’s deputy superintendent of public instruction
and Nancy Golden, Oregon’s interim chief education officer

Parents and community members are invited to a conversation with top Oregon education officials Rob Saxton and Nancy Golden.

Saxton and Golden will discuss education in Oregon, goals for increasing student outcomes, and important changes that are underway–such as implementing the Common Core State Standards and related changes in student grading and assessments.

There will be time for questions and conversation with the audience.

Churchill’s STEM Studio is at the north end of the campus, near 18th Avenue. Convenient parking is available in the small lot closest to the corner of 18th & Bailey Hill.

Open Work Study Positions

Many Work Study Positions are still open !!! Juniors and seniors with a 2.0 gpa or better and limited unexcused absences are eligible to apply for Work Study positions. NOW IS THE TIME — Don’t wait!

Welcome, Freshmen!

The first mandatory day of school for freshmen is Tuesday, September 10. School starts at 8:40, and ends at 1PM. The campus opens at 8:00AM everyday.

New copies of student schedules will be handed out in the courtyard from 8:15-8:35, and lockers and locker combinations will be printed on these new schedules.

Students will meet in the GYM with all staff at 8:40 for a Welcome Assembly.

Throughout the day, there will be time for lockers, self-guided tours, 20 minutes of each class, and a free lunch from 12:30-1:00PM.

Students still needing to make changes to their schedules may schedule an appointment with counselors AFTER SCHOOL STARTS. There will be a week to get schedules finalized. In the meantime, students should ATTEND the classes on their current schedule, or they will be marked absent.

School will end at 1PM on the Freshmen Day, Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Wednesday, Sept. 11, is a late start, with classes beginning at 9:25AM.

ZERO PERIODS will begin at 7:30AM on Thursday, September 12.
