Bookworm Club:

Today the Battle of the Books continues in the back of the library. Things are really heating up between Orange and Purple. Come and enjoy the Bookworm Showdown.

Reminder: The priority admission and scholarship deadline for Oregon State is February 1st. February 17th is the transcript/document deadline.

College and Career Center:

Seniors: If you would like help preparing for the SAT, you may be interested in SAT boot camp. There are two spaces left for the winter session which begins this Saturday. Come to the College and Career Center for additional information.

Wise Symposium:

Churchill girl’s online registration is open for our second annual WISE Symposium! Go to the CHS homepage and click on the WISE Symposium link under the CHS Headlines. WISE Symposium 2014 will be Friday, February 7th from 1:00 to 5:00pm.

Mr. Lancer:

Attention all seniors! Today you have the opportunity to vote for your Mr. Lancer contestants. Vote at lunch in the student lounge. This is your only chance to vote, see you there!

Bookworm Club:

Calling all Bookworms. We need a few cheerleaders for today’s battles between the Orange and Purple teams. You are welcome to come to the library work room and some special PBJ sandwiches and watch our Bookworms in action.

Knitting/Fiber Arts: Knitting and Fiber Arts club will meet today at lunch in Mrs. Wilson’s room, C-8. Bring your projects and your lunch.

Awakening: Come to Awakening today at lunch in Mr. Eagen’s room during lunch. See you there!

University Fellowship: The University Fellowship group meets every Thursday for lunch and fellowship in room J-28 during the lunch period. Everyone is welcome to join this fun fellowship group. See you at lunch today.

2014 Digital Learning Day

Next Wednesday, February 5th, is National Digital Learning Day. Below is the link to Live events as well as activities you can participate in with students at your schools to recognize the day.

As a district…we are sponsoring our 3rd Annual Digital Learning Day Event from 4:00-6:00 at Cesar Chavez Elementary School. (see attached) It is a FREE event with students showcasing how they are using technology for learning. There will also be FREE 1 hour workshops for parents and teachers to attend.

Please get the word out to your families that they are most welcome to stop by any time between 4:00-6:00 to see what is happening in our schools or take a workshop with one of our terrific presenters!

Calendar Changed to Restore School Days

4J schools were closed due to snow and ice for four days in December. The school calendar has been adjusted to restore the missed school days and balance the length of the trimesters. The revised one-page calendar is attached.

The snow days will be made up on March 31, April 17 and 18, and May 23. These days were previously scheduled to be furlough days.

The end of the second trimester and the no-school days for grading, professional development and planning have been postponed by one week.

If any more school days are missed due to hazardous weather, they will be made up at the end of the school year.

Bookworm Club:

Battle of the Books continues today and tomorrow as Purple Team and Orange Team battle it out to determine who will represent Churchill at regional’s in February. Come and cheer on your team in the library at lunch and have the most amazing and delicious PBJ sandwiches.

Career Day:

There are still spaces available for Lane Community College Hands-On Career Day. Classes include multimedia, early childhood education, health occupations, technology, construction and trades, culinary, and others. You must have an LCC “L” number to register. For help with “L” numbers and registration come to the Red computer lab tomorrow, Friday, either before or at lunch.

Are you getting a yearbook in the spring? Check the list outside Mr. Hoffman’s room (G-13). If you are not on the list, you have until next Friday, January 31st to reserve one at the regular price of $65.00. Don’t be left out.
