Prom Court:

Seniors – Vote for prom court today and tomorrow during lunch by the student store. Vote your top 4 favorite girls and boys. See you at prom!!

Job Opportunity:

Summer job opportunity with local company. Must have a valid Oregon drivers license, dress appropriately, strength a plus. Work 8:00am to Noon and some weekend work. Bring resume to Mary Beth in the STEM Building office. For more summer opportunities check the Job Notebook located on the table outside Mary Beth’s office.

LCC Placement Test:

Today is the last day to sign up for the LCC Math Placement Test. Sign up in the College and Career Center. You must bring your “L” number. Testing begins at 7:45am, tomorrow.

GSA:

Pink Prom is this Friday at 7:00pm at the Hilton. Tickets are on sale in room F-49 the cost of the tickets are $15.00 a piece or 2 for $25.00.

University Fellowship:

The University Fellowship meets today at lunch in Katy McAuliffe’s room.

5/21 LCC Reading/Writing Placement Tests

Lane CC placement testing for Reading Comprehension and Writing Skills will be Wednesday, May 21, at 7:45 a.m., in the Red Computer Lab. Seniors and juniors who are interested in attending Lane CC must have an “L” number prior to registration. Seating is limited, so sign up in the College & Career Readiness Center.

  • It is HIGHLY suggested that students study for the test. See the Churchill website for study links under Students – More – Accuplacer.

Sophomores and juniors can apply now for Work Study positions that will begin in the fall. Students must have a minimum 2.0 gpa and limited unexcused absences. Attend Business Week this summer! Spend a week at the University of Oregon, Oregon State University or the University of Portland and earn college credit in business. Business Week 2014: Building the Next Generation of Business Leaders is sponsored by Young Entrepreneurs Business Week (YEBW), a consortium of universities and private businesses. Business Week is designed for high school students with an interest in career preparation, leadership development, business, and college exposure. Students completing any YEBW program have the opportunity to earn college credit through Oregon State University. See Mary Beth in School-to-Careers in the STEM Building office or go to www.yebw.org. Scholarships available. This could be a great LEAP for some juniors!

Envirothon 2014

Students in the Rachel Carson Environmental Leadership/Capstone class competed in the statewide Envirothon competition on May 2nd at the Oregon Gardens in Silverton. 17 seniors completed skills and knowledge tests in 5 topics in the field of Natural Resources (Forestry, Aquatic Ecology, Soil Science, Wildlife and Sustainable Agriculture).

One team, consisting of Ariana Carter, Olivia Van Gorden, Cole Conway, Kris Lander and Kendrick Abraham, took 5th place in the state.

Matt Hayashi (Trinity Western University) and Andrew Smith (George Fox University) make commitments on Tuesday to play basketball in college.

Both were standouts on the Churchill Lancer Basketball team that finished 25-3 and played in the State Championship game for the second straight year.

Matt and Andrew join David Shedrick (Northwest Nazarene University) and Malik Morgan (Humboldt State University) who has signed letters of intent to play college basketball from the Lancer team.

We need 3 volunteers to help out at the long jump pit tomorrow at JV Track districts at Silke Field in Springfield. You can ride the bus with the team. Bus loads at 12:20 and leaves at 12:40pm. You can get Community Service hours. Sign up with Julie in the counseling hall.

Reminder that Friday, May 9 is an Early Release for Mid-Term Progress Reports at CHS. Classes will end at noon, with lunch following.

Buses will load at 12:30PM, and leave at 12:40. The front office will close at 12:45PM on Friday, May 9.
