AP Testing:

If you have not yet “bubbled” your answer sheet for the AP Test, you must come to the Bubble Session Friday, April 22, at 8 a.m. in the auditorium. You must complete the answer sheet before taking the test. Again, that is Friday, at 8 a.m. Please bring a #2 pencil.

Eugene Fire & EMS Career Day:

Eugene Fire & EMS Career Day is Tuesday, May 3rd. This all­-day career exploration trip features careers in firefighting, peace officer, EMT, and emergency dispatch. Learn new skills, learn what types of equipment are used, see crews fight a live fire. This event also features employers and representatives from area community colleges. Space is limited so sign up NOW at the School­-to­-Career office in the STEM building.

Community Service:

Community Service opportunity! Students, earn some community service hours on Saturday, April 30th and help Ophelia’s Place host Girls Rule! a one­day event at Churchill offering hands on workshops for children ages 9­-14. There are two, four, and six hour shifts available. Sign up outside the School­-to­-Career office in the STEM building or the Career Center. Any student may volunteer.

Juniors:

Juniors, get a jump on your senior year. Come to How to Prepare for Senior Year information night, Monday, April 25th at 6:30 in the auditorium. Very important information will be given to you. You don’t want to miss it. Parents are encouraged to attend.

College and Career:

There will be a Lane Community College information session on Tuesday, April 26th at 1:00 in F 39 for all seniors going to LCC or thinking about going to LCC in the fall. This is an important meeting you don’t want to miss but please, get permission from your 4th period teacher first.

An admissions representative from the Art Institute of Portland will be here on Wednesday, April 27th at lunch in the College & Career Center. All grades are invited to attend.

NHS:

The Oregon Primary is May 17th, if you are 17 years old or older, register to vote at the planters by April 26th.

West End:

West End is looking for cello and violin players for pit orchestra for our production of “The Little Mermaid” Talk to Mr. Mudd in the Band room (D­2) if interested.

South Eugene Theater:

Come see the comedy­-thriller “Deathtrap” now through Saturday. Posters can be found around school. Tickets are $7.00 for students and show starts at 7:00pm at South’s Little Theater.

The Lancer Pageant is this Friday night. Come buy your tickets at lunch all week by the planters or get them from your coordinators, contestants or in room B­17. The cost is $10.00 or $15.00 at the door.

AP Testing:

Dance Team:

Anyone interested in Dance team or learning dance, their will be a meeting in the auditorium on Tuesday April 19th at lunchtime to see who might be interested and ready to get started on putting a team together. If you are interested please come join us. It won’t be a long meeting.

Congratulations:

Congratulations to Kevin Shin-­Wheeler for receiving the volunteer of the YEAR award from United Way for his work on Teen Court. This is a huge award! Thanks Kevin for your excellent work and for representing CHS so wonderfully.

Lancer Pageant:

We are hosting a car wash this Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm in front of Churchill. We will make your car look as good as new! Donations accepted.

Girls Rule! is an opportunity for Eugene youth to participate in STEM/STEAM events right here at Churchill H.S. on Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by Ophelia’s Place.

Highlighting the event will be keynote speakers, Kimberly and Rebecca Yeung. These bright sisters, ages 9 and 10 from Seattle, made national headlines in September 2015 when they sent a homemade aircraft to the edge of space and back, and recorded the entire journey on a GoPro!
