National Honor Society:

There will be a National Honor Society meeting today at lunch in the choir room.

Junior Powder Puff:

Just a reminder, juniors first practice is today after school from 4:00 to 5:30pm on the turf. If you haven’t picked up your equipment, go to room B­17. Seniors, you also need to pick up your equipment.

Equestrian Team:

Congratulations to Kendall Nickerson for placing second at the state horse show in saddle seat.

Seniors, are you heading to Lance Community College in the fall? Be sure to get your placement testing done before you graduate! LCC Placement testing in reading, writing and math will be tomorrow, at 7:45 a.m. in the STEM building. Bring your photo ID, L number to the STEM building entrance by the visitors parking lot. See Mary Beth in the School­-to­-Career office in the STEM building if you have questions.

The end is fast approaching and lot’s of activities are coming up. Our traditional Senior Breakfast is June 9th at the Hilton. Listen for more information and ticket sales.

Attention AP students who tested at the church:

A pair of prescription glasses were left at the church. They are in a silver case that has an orange tiger sticker on it. If you know who these glasses belong to, please see Katy in the counseling office.

Additionally, if you received a note indicating that you still owe money on your testing fees, please pay that amount as soon as possible. Seven students are still owing.

Drivers Ed:

Registration for Drivers Ed begins Monday. You can register on line at oregondrivertraining.com. You must have a learners permit to register. The tuition is $275.00. Flyers are available in the front office.

IHS Celebration:

Attention all singers! The nationally acclaimed all­male a’cappella group, On the Rocks is holding auditions for next year’s group today in the choir room. If you are a junior or senior this year, you are eligible to be a part of the group. All you need to do is prepare a 30 second portion of a song that you sound good on. Sign­up for your audition spot at 3:45pm and auditions start at 4pm. See you there!

4J Vision 20/20

Dear families,

You’re invited: Please join 4J Superintendent Gustavo Balderas this Thursday evening to talk about the future of 4J schools.

Our school district is engaged in 4J Vision 20/20, a strategic visioning and planning process. 4J Vision 20/20 will lead to a 3- to 5-year guiding plan that reflects what our community wants our school system to look like and where the district’s limited resources should be targeted to best support student success.

All 4J parents, students, staff and community members are invited to get an update on the process and provide feedback at a community meeting this ThursdayMay 12, at 7 p.m., at North Eugene High School. Spanish interpretation will be provided.

Están invitados a una reunión este jueves con el superintendente Gustavo Balderas en la escuela preparatoria North Eugene, para hablar sobre el futuro de nuestras escuelas.

Nuestro distrito escolar está preparándose para el futuro con la Visión 20/20, un proceso estratégico de visión y planificación. La Visión 20/20 de 4J creara un plan con un alcance de 3 a 5 años el cual reflejara lo que nuestra comunidad quiere para nuestro sistema escolar y hacia dónde se deben enfocar los limitados recursos del distrito para ayudar de mejor manera a nuestros alumnos.

AP Testing:

Students who are taking the AP Language and Composition Test need to come to Valley Covenant Church at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow. Remember to bring two pencils and two pens (black or blue only). This is a long test, so get good sleep and come prepared to do great work. We’ll see you at 7:30.

If you are taking the AP Statistics test, you must bring a graphing calculator to the test on Thursday afternoon.

LCC Placement Testing:

There will be LCC Placement testing tomorrow at 7:45 a.m. Please meet in front of the STEM building near the visitor parking lot. Bring you photo ID and L number. See Mary Beth in the STEM building office if you have any questions.

Math Club:

Apologies for the last-­minute notice, but there will be no Math Club today, as Mr. Grossberg will be in the cafeteria this afternoon showing the youngsters how board games are played. Feel free to stop by and join us!

GAPP:

The German American Partnership Program is having a fundraiser at Papa’s Pizza on West 11th today! 50% of the proceeds go to GAPP with a flyer that you can get at Julie’s desk in the Career Center.

Reimagine Education in Oregon: Community forum on Tuesday, May 10

You are invited to join with the Oregon Department of Education and other members of our community to reimagine education in our state. State and local leaders will hold an education forum in our community on Tuesday, May 10.

Come learn more about Oregon’s education initiatives, contribute to a discussion on the factors supporting student success, and get your questions answered by local and state education leaders.

The community forum will be held at South Eugene High School from 6:00–7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10. You can find more information, including other community forums around the state, on the Oregon Department of Education website at www.ode.state.or.us/go/ESSA.

Game Time:

Game Time is happening after school next Tuesday!! We just got moved to the cafeteria where we will have more room for more games. Bring all your friends. Ask your favorite teacher if they will be there. Tues May 10th 3:45 to 5:30 in the Cafeteria.

Thespians:

Voting for your 2016-­2017 Thespian officers is taking place today in the choir room. Please give your ballots to Sam to be counted.

APISU:

APISU will be selling mochi ice cream and popsicles after school today as a fundraiser for the Kumamoto earthquake.

West End:

Come see Churchill’s Jazz Band and Downing Street Singers perform at our annual Jazz Cafe! Tonight at 7:00pm in the auditorium. Raffles, deserts, and coffee! Free show. All proceeds go towards the band/choir trip next year.

Meals on Wheels, an organization that provides meals to the elderly, needs volunteers at their fund­raiser on May 28th, from 4­8 p.m. The volunteers would be required to serve diners and to help clean up after the event. Earn four hours of community service. Call Rose at 541­-689­-8011.
