2017 Grad Party Fundraiser

Come purchase your Churchill Stadium Chair at Churchill Home Football games. Fundraiser for the 2017 Senior Class Grad Party.

Stadium Bleacher Chairs cost $45.00. They are available at the snack shack, Senior Grad Party table located near snack shack, and every Wednesday from 1-3pm in the Career Center at CHS. Stadium chairs will also be sold at various Churchill athletic games when available or you may contact 2017chsgradparty@gmail.comto purchase.

2017 Churchill Senior Grad Party tickets cost $35.00 each. They are available to purchase at the Senior Grad Party table located at various athletic games and every Wed, 1-3pm in the Career Center at CHS.

Students who qualify for 4J free or reduced-price meals will be able to purchase senior grad tickets for $20.00.  Any ticket financial hardship concerns can be sent to 2017chsgradparty@gmail.com.

The Churchill 2017 Senior Class Grad Party will be located at the U of O Rec Center on graduation night, Monday June 12th from 11pm-3am. All CHS senior graduates are encouraged and invited to come! Party will be fun for all with raffles, prizes, cash walk, casino, swimming, basketball, volleyball, & racket ball courts, rock wall climbing, etc.

2017 Senior Grad Party Meetings

Greetings 2017 Churchill H.S. Senior parents,

Here are our next scheduled 2017 Senior Grad Party Meetings:

  • Monday October 3, 7pm in the CHS library
  • Monday November 7, 7pm in the CHS library
  • Monday December 12, 7pm in the CHS library

Ideally, in the future we will hold monthly meetings on the first Monday of the month at 7pm in the CHS library unless it is a no school day (note, Dec 12 meeting is the second Monday of December). In the future,  please check the current monthly CHS Calendar in case meeting is cancelled.

Come learn about our current fundraiser (CHS logo stadium bleacher chairs), possible future fundraisers, U of O Rec Center party venue, etc.  We are already off to a great start! We need your help to plan and make this an awesome party for our seniors! All are welcome and appreciated!

NHS

College and Career Center

An admissions representative from the University of Oregon will be here on Wednesday, the 21st at 10:30 in the college and career center. Get permission from your 2nd period teacher before attending.

Football

Wednesday, September 21st is Churchill Football fundraiser day at Papa’s Pizza. Churchill football will earn 50% of all food and drink sales on Wednesday, September 21st. Please go have a meal there on the 21st and help the football program raise some money in the process!

Volunteer Opportunity

Attention sophomores, juniors, and seniors! Do you need to complete your community service hours? Do you have a free period? Then volunteer at Kennedy middle school or McCornack elementary school. It’s a fun and easy way to get your community service hours in. Please pick up an application outside the School-to-Career office in the STEM building or in the College and Career Center. Applications are to be turned in to Mary Beth in the School-to-Career office.

Here’s the story: We learn about some areas of math that aren’t in your regular classes. We share different ways to look at math. We do math puzzles. We enter math competitions, individually and in groups. We discuss topics brought in by you, the members. If some or all of this sounds interesting to you, please join us in F37 (Mr. Grossberg’s room) on Mondays from 3:45 to 5:00, starting today. And sometimes…there are snacks. Hope to see you there!

Mascot

Do you like to have fun? Do you have school spirit? Then show your spirit in becoming our school mascot. If you are interested, pick up an application in B17. Applications are due tomorrow.

Lockers

If you signed up for a locker that requires a padlock and you did not put a lock on it, your locker has been zip-tied shut. See Krista in the front office to retrieve your items and confirm that you have a lock to put on the locker. You must check with Krista and put a lock on your locker before the end of school on Tuesday (that’s tomorrow!) or your locker will be reassigned to another student.

Student IDs

Kevin will make student ID cards in the campus supervisors’ office every day from 8:00 to 8:45 and during passing periods. The first ID card is free. Replacement ID cards are $5.00.

Community Service opportunity

The Emerald Valley BMX is looking for volunteers this weekend — Saturday and Sunday — for the 2016 Northwest Regional Championships. The race track is located behind Autzen Stadium. If your interested, please see the flyer outside the School-to-Career office in the STEM building or in the College and Career Center.

Auditions will continue today, with callbacks on Wednesday of next week, after school in the auditorium, for the montage of Hamilton the musical, which will be Churchill’s group number for regional. This is not the auditions for the revue to be presented in December. That will come at a later date. If you beatbox, rap, sing, dance, you are welcome to come and audition.

Rachel Carson Academy welcomes Our Children’s Trust

The Rachel Carson Academy welcomed 6 of the 21 youth plaintiffs that will be represented tomorrow (September 13th) in the federal court hearing of Juliana, et al v. United States. The 21 brave youth plaintiffs are working to secure the right to a stable climate and healthy atmosphere for all present and future generations. The case will be in the national spotlight and includes 6 young people from Eugene and 15 others from around the United States.

Rachel Carson students also learned from UO Law Professor Mary Wood last Friday about the groundbreaking case. Special thank you to Rye Oommen and Tyee Adkins for putting the Rachel Carson Academy in touch with Mary Wood!

There will be a march in solidarity and support leaving from South Eugene High School to the Federal Courthouse tomorrow morning. The group of youth will meet in the South Eugene parking lot at 8:40am.

Robotics Competition

Want to build a robot that throws stars and does chin-ups? Join a team and compete with other schools in this year’s VEX Robotics Competition! Join the robotics club, no experience necessary. Meet after school on Tuesday at 3:45 in the STEM big room to find out more about this exciting and fun opportunity. Questions? Contact Mrs. Chisholm in room H5.

Water Update

The water stations around the school will soon be removed. Water testing results found that the water from the water fountains at Churchill is safe to drink.

Creative Writing Club

Do you enjoy writing and would like to find a group of like-minded friends? Join the Creative Writing Club.  We meet every Monday after school in the library.

This Monday is the first meeting.  Freshmen welcome!

Student Schedules

Today is the last day for students to request a schedule change. Schedule change request forms are available by the counseling offices.

Students, please attend the classes that are listed on your schedule in StudentVUE. If you have requested a class change, attend the old class until you see the new class on your schedule in StudentVUE. Absence from class to wait for a schedule change will not be excused. Absence because you are attending the wrong class will not be excused.

Teachers, if a student is in your classroom, but not on your attendance list in Synergy, please have them check their schedule and go to the class that is on their schedule.

I’m a dancer!

If you are interested in being on this year’s dance team, there will be a first meeting on Tuesday, September 13th at lunch time in the auditorium. Please come join us for all information on how to get on the team.

West End CaPPA

West End will be meeting this today at lunch in room C8. Anyone interested in performing in this year’s productions and participating in regional and state competitions, come join us. Bring your lunch. As long as you clean up your mess you are welcome to eat at the meeting.

West End will be holding auditions for its winter production of From Broadway to You: A Musical Revue. The show will be a combination of songs from various Broadway shows such as Hamilton, Catch Me if You Can, Waitress, Addams Family, Matilda, Heathers, Legally Blond, Big, Sweeney Todd, Rent, Dogfight, and Seussical. If you are interested in auditioning, you can get more information today at the West End meeting. We are looking for singers, dancers, actors and b-boxers.
