Golf

CHS Golf Team is holding a fundraiser at the Wild Duck Cafe on Tuesday, Feb. 21st.  20% of the proceeds will go to the team. Grab a flyer in the front office to show your support.

Lancer Pageant

Come on Wednesday, Feb. 22, all day long, to Dizzy Deans to get some delicious donuts and support the Lancer Pageant. Pick up a flyer at one of our posters around the school or from one of the contestants.

Community Service Opportunities

Oregon Public Universities and College Fair

Join us for the Oregon Public Universities and College Fair on Monday, February 27th. We will have a general overview and introductions in the auditorium at 6:00pm followed by the fair in the cafeteria. You will have the opportunity to talk to representatives from The University of Oregon, Oregon State University, Oregon State University Cascades, Portland State University, Western Oregon University, Eastern Oregon University, Oregon Institute of Technology, Southern Oregon State University and Lane Community College. All grades and families are welcome to attend.

Parents – Would like to know more about how the dissemination of funds occur throughout schools and the district. In addition, it has been requested that additional communication about opportunity for students and families to participate in at CHS. The parents are requesting that there are

Students – Students are aware of the new calendar for the rest of the year. Students are working toward inclusiveness and solidarity in both school and the community.

Staff – Staff continues to help one another from helping cover classes to supporting one another. Teachers are preparing for testing of SBAC. The junior teachers will be providing the workkeys in class and work samples later in the year. We are halfway through the school year. Staff has been helping support students and one another since the since the start the new year.

Classified – Many school events are in places right now and are coming. Be sure to check the website and G-lancer.

Administration – We are preparing for forecasting for 2017-18. Staffing for next will be announced soon.

Registration is now open for the 5th Annual WISE Symposium featuring workshops by local professionals and scientists in science, technology, engineering, medicine, and math. Graduation Party Fundraiser 2/25

Applebee's fundraiser 2017 Grad Party

This is a fundraiser to help pay for raffle gift baskets, food, cash prizes at fun Casino tables/ cash walk/ and Horse Races. The U of O Rec Center will include swimming, a rock climbing wall, basketball/volleyball/racquetball courts and more all for you to enjoy after graduation!

Seniors, get involved & help sell Applebee’s fundraiser tickets for your Senior Grad Party at the U of O Rec Center on June 12 from 11pm-3 am after graduation.

Blood Drive

Churchill Health Services Pathway and Lane County Blood Center want to offer a big THANK YOU to all staff, student donors, and volunteers who helped out with the blood drive last Wed. Thanks to your support we collected 34 units of blood, helping up to 102 patients in need. Way to go Churchill!

Creative Writing Club

Creative Writing Club meets every Monday after school in the library. Today we have a guest speaker joining us: the author Tanya Petersen. She writes realistic fiction about mental illness and overcoming life challenges. Come and join us today after school and meet Tanya.

West End Thespians Shine at Regional Competition

On Saturday, February 4th West End Thespians went to the Thespian Regional Performing Arts competition. We competed in several events with about 25 different schools and over 300 competitors in several different theatrical events and did really well!

Jessica Searl received two Superiors for Solo Vocal

Isaac Gillard received Superiors for solo monologue which earned him a Special Ribbon and called upon the stage to be honored.

Ian Gregory, Tyson Tisdale and George Butterick V received Superior for Small Group Musical number and will be representing the Whole Southern Regional at State in April.

The Hamilton Group – Ryan Dallimore, Ian Gregory, Jessica Searl, Tyson Tisdale, Emily Helm, Emily Martini, Andrea Fadich, Milton Monroe, Tim Bouwhis, Cole Regan, Emma Rosenberg, Devin Bahr, Sara Blythe, Avery Bernardo, George Butterick V, and Matt Arscott, also received several Superiors and will also be going to State to compete.

A big congratulations to all the participated in going to Regional including Madison Yeash who competed for us in solo monologue and did very well.

We will be competing in several events at the State Thespian Competition representing Churchill High school and hopefully on to Nationals in Nebraska in June.

Seniors, if you are going or thinking about going to Lane Community College, come to the LCC scholarship workshop today at 3:45-5:15 in F36. We’ll help you fill out the Oregon Promise, LCC Foundation and OSAC scholarship applications. You don’t want to miss deadlines or free money to help pay for your tuition. Apply for several scholarships on just 2 applications. If you apply for the OSAC scholarships by February 15th, you could win $500!! The deadline for the Oregon Promise and OSAC scholarship applications is March 1st. The deadline for the LCC scholarship application is March 2nd.

PeaceJam

PeaceJam is hosting a Nobel Peace Prize winner this March 11&12th at the UofO.  PeaceJam is an awesome organization designed to give youth the chance to become agents of change in their communities through action.  Youth leadership  includes weekly meetings in J25, Thursdays at lunch for now as well as the chance to work in our community towards peace and social justice action.  This is a great way to earn community service hours toward graduation.  Please see Lisa Iacovetta in J25 with questions.  We are meeting today in J25 at lunch.
