Happy Birthday

Zach Cooper

Zach Cooper, a fellow Lancer, recently suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed in his left side. After 3 brain surgeries he is now on his long road to recovery. If you are able to help support Zach and his family, students are carrying around donation buckets, a donation bucket is in the front office, or you can donate to his go fund me website at www.gofundme.com/moola4zach.

Join us tonight for “Finding Your Way through High School” Information Night at 6:30pm in the auditorium. We will provide information on Graduation Requirements, Timelines, Calendar of Events, Helpful Hints and Frequently Asked Questions.  Please bring your parent or guardian too.

WISE

Women in Science & Engineering will meet today at lunch in the STEM conference room.

Career Opportunities

Manufacturing Day: Churchill students have the opportunity to attend Experience Oregon Manufacturing. Students will tour wood or food manufacturing sites to learn what career opportunities are available in this industry. The bus will leave from Churchill on Friday, October 6th,  at 9 a.m. and return at 1:45 p.m.  Lunch is provided. Space is limited so sign up outside the School-to-Career office in the STEM building.

Work Study: Attention Juniors and Seniors – A Work Study position at César Chávez is now open for the 2017-2018 school year. Please bring your resume and one Churchill teacher reference to Mary Beth in the School-to-Career office in the STEM building. Work Study gives you class credit and a grade for a paid job with a local Churchill region school.

McCornack Mentors: Applications are now available to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors to be a McCornack Mentor. These positions require the student to have a free third period and skills in science and math are a plus. High School credit will be given. See Mary Beth in the School-to-Career Center for an application.

Asian Student Union

ASU will have a meeting during lunch today. Everyone is welcome to come to H23 to join us.

Thespians

This year’s first Thespian meeting is today. We invite anyone who would like to be a part of theatre, tech, costumes, sets, or crew to come to H8 at lunch.

Black Student Union

BSU starts back up today at lunch in J9, Leah Dunbar’s room. It’s going to be a great year so come check it out. Everyone is welcome no matter gender, race, or sexual orientation.

Today: JV FB vs. NE at 6:30pm: No Early Release;  Boys JV2/JV/V Soccer vs. Crescent Valley: 4pm/4pm: Release 2:45pm;  V/JV Girls Soccer at Crescent Valley: Release at 1:15pm (Double Header: bus trip)

Friday:  VB at Crater: Release at 10:45am (All three teams with bus travel);  V FB at North Eugene 7pm: No Early Release;  XC at Meriwether Classic: Release at 10:40am (Bus trip)

Saturday: JV/V Boys Soccer vs. Ashland at 4pm
