Graduation at a G’Lance 2/2

Churchill Graduating Students and Families,

Graduation is on June 12. Some of you have already started asking questions about the graduation ceremony. There are many events and tasks to complete before graduation. After Spring Break you will start to see weekly Graduation at a G’Lance emails. Before things get too busy, I encourage you to look over our graduation timeline at www.chs.lane.edu/graduation, so you will be ready for what comes next. In this edition of Graduation at a G’Lance we will cover some basics of upcoming events, graduation requirements, cap and gown reminders, and ticket distribution.

Upcoming Events

The next Graduation Party Planning Meeting is on Wednesday, February 7 at 6:30pm in the Churchill Library. All parents are welcome and invited to help plan the Graduation Party. The Graduation Party is sponsored by Churchill senior parents. Liability is the responsibility of the organizers of the event.

Graduation Requirements

You may want to check in with your counselor and the College and Career Center to confirm that you are on track to graduate. Our College and Career Coordinator has trained knowledgeable and dedicated volunteers to help you stay on track. You can also find lots of helpful information on the College and Career Center website: blogs.4j.lane.edu/houck_s/.

To be cleared to participate in the graduation ceremony, you must complete the following requirements:

  1. academic requirements met to within 4J GRAC guidelines (check with your counselor),
  2. no overdue library books or fees (check with the library),
  3. no outstanding cafeteria fees (check with the cafeteria),
  4. all other fees paid or an agreement made with the finance clerk.

No student has ever been denied tickets or walking in graduation due to financial constraints. Start this conversation early, so you can be ready when it is time to pick up tickets. We want every student to be able to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Cap and Gown

If you have not ordered your cap and gown, please contact Miners Graduate Services as soon as possible. Prices have gone up, but you may still order. Call 541-689-4588 or visit www.minersgrad.com.

Assistance is available for students on free and reduced lunch. Check with Jill in the front office if you need to borrow a cap and gown.

Ticket Distribution

The Hult Center requires a ticket for every person who enters the concert hall. This includes infants. Tickets will be available for graduating students at the front office during student lunch starting on May 14. Tickets will be free to all graduating students. Each student will receive six reserved tickets and may pick up additional tickets until they are sold out. Any reserved tickets remaining will be released for distribution at graduation rehearsal and in the Hult Center lobby half an hour before the ceremony begins.

With Anticipation,

Jill Reents

Secretary, Graduation Coordinator
