Graduation at a G’Lance 3/9

Churchill Graduating Students and Families,

Term 2 is coming to a close and now is the time to wrap up those final graduation requirements in preparation for the graduation ceremony and festivities. We will hold a Graduation Information Night for parents and students on April 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Churchill Cafeteria. We will discuss and answer questions about graduation requirements, ticket distribution, auditions, seating and walking partner signup, expectations, and other graduation events.

The Graduation Checklist

The Graduation Checklist will be posted on April 2 on the graduation website at and in my office window in the front office. In the meantime, you can work on completing your LEAP projects, community service, and Essential Skills requirements and check with the Library, Cafeteria, and Finance Office to make sure you have no overdue books or outstanding fees. If you are unsure what you have left to do, please contact your counselor for assistance. We want every student to be able to participate in the graduation ceremony. If you have financial concerns, please talk to your counselor or the Finance Clerk for assistance.

How to Use the Graduation Checklist

To protect student privacy, the checklist will be published with student numbers, rather than names. If you don’t know your student number, you can find it on StudentVUE or ParentVUE, or check with your counselor. Based on feedback from students and parents from previous years, the Graduation Checklist now has check marks. A check mark means that your requirements for that column are complete. Incomplete requirements will have a note indicating where to go to finalize that requirement.

Cafeteria Fees

Even if you haven’t eaten lunch in the cafeteria, it’s a good idea to check with Nutrition Services to make sure you don’t have a balance. Some students have an old balance of just a few dollars from as far back as elementary school. You can find contact information at

Our library has recently done away with overdue book fees, but you may still be charged for a lost book and you will not be cleared to participate in graduation until your overdue books are returned or you have paid the lost book fee. Talk to Debbie or Lisa in the library if you have any questions.
