The Booster "Beat"

Churchill United Boosters would like to extend a big thank you to Carl Stubbs, our school safety officer for his wonderful presentation at our March meeting. Carl is such a wonderful resource to have at Churchill and we all appreciate the time he takes to help keep our students safe.

As you have read in previous months articles, the Churchill Booster group is undergoing some changes. One of the proposed changes is changing our name to Lancer Parent Association. While we have tried really hard as a group this year to convey the message that we are not just about sports the name “boosters” still to some relates more to sports activities. The current executive board fully supports the name change to Lancer Parent Association as we feel it does better define what we are as a group. Included in the G’Lancer this month is a copy of the proposed By-Laws for the Lancer Parent Association. If you are getting the newsletter via email, you can stop in to the school office and pick up a copy of the proposed by-laws if you are interested. Please read these by-laws and plan to attend the April 9th meeting where we will be discussing and voting on the by-laws.

At the April 9th meeting (7pm in the library), we will also be accepting and announcing nominations for parent representatives on the Site Council (2 parents are needed) and the Operations committee and for the Lancer Parent Association Board. If you are interested in being a parent representative for Site Council or Operations, please stop in to the school office and pick up a form, fill it out, and return it to the school office by April 9th. Site Council meets twice on month (Wednesdays 3:30-5:00pm) and Operations meets weekly (the first red day of the week at 1:45pm). More Information on both these positions is available by contacting the school office. Nominations for serving on the Lancer Parent Board for next year will be taken verbally (you may nominate yourself or someone else) at the April 9th meeting. The positions to be filled are: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. Voting for all positions will occur at the May 7th meeting.

Finally, as the current board members terms come to an end in a couple months, we would like to thank everyone who has attended our meetings this year. We hope you have enjoyed the many guest speakers we have had such as Churchill’s Downing Street Singers, the Robotics Club, Rachel Carson SLC representatives, the Churchill Dance Team, and most recently, Officer Carl Stubbs. We have tried to provide parents informative meetings on a variety of topics and interests.

Please plan to attend our next meeting on Monday, April 9th at 7:00pm in the library where we will not have a guest speaker but will be discussing and voting on by-laws changes for our group, as well as accepting nominations for various positions. Come get involved and help continue to make Churchill High School a great place for all our students!
