We’re happy to get started on this new year of school. Many

the coming school year. Feel free to call or email me with questions
or to volunteer.

Parent Representative Needed!
A parent representative is needed for the CHS Operations Group
for the 2006-07 school year. The position is a 2-year commitment
and begins the first full week of school, in September. Operations
Group meets every week, at 1:50pm on the first Red day of the week.
As Red and Blue days change each week, these meetings will usually
take place on a Monday or Tuesday, or occasionally (due to holidays)
on a Wednesday. Meetings last approximately 15-45 minutes, depending
upon agenda items. If you are interested in the position, please
obtain an application from the front office and submit it prior
to the first Booster/Parent Council Meeting on September 11th.
Welcome Back ~ Back to School BBQ & Football Game
The Churchill Booster Club has meeting this summer and we are excited
to let all of you know what we are planning. Mark the following
dates on your calendar, and read about an exciting new fundraising
plan we are developing.
On August 31st, at the Freshmen orientation & Ice Cream Social,
booster memberships and information about our new fundraiser will
be available.
September 8th is the Back to School BBQ and first home football
game. Hamburger or hot dog meals will be available in the courtyard
for $3.50, or $15 for families. The BBQ will be open from 5-7pm.
Please see the flyer. The BBQ will be a chance to check out CHS clubs
and sports, eat a bit, chat a bit and get (re)acquainted with Churchill
and all of the great people that make this school what it is.
New Fundraising/Membership Project
Supporting extracurricular programs and becoming a Booster member
at CHS just got easier! Just because it’s summer, the needs
of kids don’t go away.
A new fundraising approach was just what we were looking for to
really energize our parents and support our students. This gives
you the ability to purchase an online membership at the Lancer Pride
website and become a voting member of Churchill Boosters for only
$25 per year and 50% of your membership is contributed back to the
Churchill Boosters.
As a community, we know there are many shortfalls in the education
system, just to meet the needs of kids. Extracurricular programs
are just one of those needs, but it is still an important part of
well-rounded development for young people. This new approach is
a way that local business owners and professionals can show their
support.
Lancer Pride, which will be located at www.shoplancer.com, begins
August 7, 2006. This is a web-based program, developed by The Pass
Group of Corvallis, that simplifies fundraising for school programs
and helps to keep the focus on the kids.
Local business owners and professionals can show their support
with an annual advertising contract linking their business site
to the Lancer Pride website. Each advertising contract will produce
a donation of 70% or more to local schools. If you are a business
owner, or know one, please contact us for this exciting opportunity
to advertise AND support CHS students.
In addition, the Lancer Pride website will support an online Shopping
Mall of over 200 nationally recognized stores where members can
make purchases and have 2.5% to 10% of each purchase donated to
CHS programs. Check it out!

Student & Visitor Parking
Junior and Senior students are allowed to park on
campus after purchasing a parking hang tag for the 2006-07 school
year. Sophomores are not permitted to park on campus.
Visitors are asked to park in the VISITORS parking
area near the main entrance in the North front lot and come to the
office to obtain a parking pass for your vehicle.
Permission to drive a motor vehicle on the school
grounds is granted to and is subject to the following regulations:
Senior student parking hang tags allow for parking
in ANY lot, in any legal, non-RESERVED parking space, including
the Senior lot to the south of the school.
Junior student parking hang tags allow for parking
in any lot EXCEPT the South Senior lot, in any legal, non-RESERVED
parking space.
Vehicles parked in a RESERVED or VISITOR parking space
without the proper permit will be booted (first offense) or towed
at the owner’s expense.
Parking hang tags are now only $30 and can be purchased
beginning at registration September 6th.
All vehicles must be registered with school officials
and the CHS Parking Contract must be read and signed prior to receiving
a sticker. In signing this contract, students agree to abide by
the parking rules and regulations set forth in the contract, and
acknowledge that if they park illegally, they will be ticketed,
booted or towed at their expense.
Parking tickets will be issued for other parking violations
and parking privileges may be revoked if there are repeated violations.
Please do not park along any of the areas with stripes
of yellow paint, any fire lanes, yellow curbs, handicapped spaces
(unless you are licensed to do so) or their access areas, or any
area that is not marked for parking.
Please Don’t Park in the Bus Zone...
We realize the parking and traffic “ergonomics” of
CHS are less than optimal, but please remember, the Bus Loading
Zone area striped and painted in the front of the school must be
left clear for school and city buses to load and unload students.
PLEASE... when you drop off or pick up your student(s), please do
not park or stop in the Bus Loading Zone.
On another note, the amount of traffic in the south lot/Senior
Lot with student drop-off’s has made that lot congested also.
We ask that parents not drop off student(s) in the parking lot to
the south of the school (between the softball field/tennis courts
and the school). There are so many vehicles trying to maneuver and
find parking spots in that lot in the morning that it has become
dangerous for drivers, as well as staff and students trying to enter
the building. We would appreciate it if you would drop off your
student(s) at the front of the school, to the North or South of
the Bus Loading Zone. Thank you for your assistance.
Parents Email Addresses Needed
We value the ability to communicate information with our community
in a timely manner. Due to this, and budget cuts, our monthly newsletters
are online and we send out monthly reminders via email about the
new issues. However, there are other reasons for us to have parents’
email addresses, as well. We can email parents with up-to-date information
about events regarding their student’s specific graduating
class, as well as general school happenings. A database of parents’
email addresses enables us to communicate with you in a faster,
cost-effective way.
We are requesting that all parents (who have not already done so)
send an email with the
following iformation to assist us in putting together our database.
Thank you for your help! We need to know:
1. Your student(s) class (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior)
2. Your student(s) name(s)
3. The email address you wish to have the message sent to
Email information
United Way Contributions
This year, the United Way and the Eugene Education Fund are working
together to offer you new ways to give back to your community. As
a part of your United Way gift, you can designate, through therestricted
funds, a gift to the Eugene Education Fund and the specific school
program that you wish to support. By choosing to designate your
restricted gift to Churchill High School, you can offer extra educational
opportunities to our students.
