Lesson 5: Network File Management (Intro)

One of the super-cool things about being required to log in and use a password at our school is that this logs you into a server. This is another computer that is located somewhere else (sometimes referred to a remote host). The server you login to is named Gwen. Every student has file space on Gwen. You can save files for yor classes to Gwen, and then work on them from any other computer with a network connection (including you home). You can even post your own web site on Gwen!

In this lesson you will learn some of the basics of transferrring files to and from Gwen. In order to do this you will using a program that uses FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to move files from one computer to another.
