Lesson 7: CBSS - Brainstorming 1-2 (Intro)
You are about to embark on a new adventure. You are about to
learn some Computer Based Study Strategies (CBSS). Everyhting
in these next lessons is adapted/taken form the Center for Electronic
Study at the University of Oregon.
Computer-Based Study Strategies enhance one's ability to learn
and, in particular, to study. At the Center for Electronic Studying
at the University of Oregon, they have researched this topic at
length. All the CBSS they develop and recommend have been tested
and proven successful in schools like yours. Students using CBSS
get better grades, feel better about themselves as learners, like
school more, and stay in school longer. Using the research they've
"built in" to the strategies, CBSS users become effective
studiers and more likely to succeed as lifelong learners.
CBSS relate to specific school tasks, such as:
- Organizing for School
- Reading to Learn
- Notetaking
- Remembering Information
- Writing Papers and Reports
- Representing Knowledge
You will start by learning to use some tools that assist with
CBSS. The software tool is called Inspiration®.
The first strategy you will work with is Brainstorming.
Brainstorming with a computer is really fun and a great way to
generate ideas for learning, projects, planning, problem-solving,
decision-making, etc.
