OREGON STANDARDS AND THE CERTIFICATE OF INITIAL MASTERY
Who may earn a CIM?
Between the 9th and 12th grade years, an Oregon student may earn
a Certificate of Initial Mastery, showing that the student has met
Oregon’s high state and local standards in all of the following
areas:
• Math
• Reading
• Writing
• Speaking
• Science
How do I qualify for CIM?
Students must do two things to earn a CIM:
1. Meet qualifying standards on Statewide Assessment Tests
2. Compile a collection of successful work samples as evidence of
applying the standards in your daily work
