WELLNESS INTEGRATED NETWORK (WIN)
SMALL LEARNING COMMUNITY
Overview
Wellness Integrated Network (WIN) is a two-year program, which
students enter at the ninth grade level. This Small Learning Community
integrates Health, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. WIN
courses employ rigorous curriculum designed for students interested
in medicine, health and wellness.
Health education is a field marked by rapid changes due to the
pace at which medical breakthroughs occur. Through science, technology,
and industry, we continue to gain a deeper understanding of disease
related to genetics and the environment as well as a greater understanding
of prevention and treatment options. WIN SLC has adopted curriculum,
instruction, and assessment strategies that guide students toward
self-directed and cooperative learning with the goal of comprehending
concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention. The
curriculum employs a variety of teaching methods to involve students,
including hands-on laboratory activities and problem solving.
WIN classes will provide multiple opportunities for students to
meet CIM standards for health, social studies, language arts and
science. Sophomore classes will develop a solid foundation for courses
offered in the Health CAM, as well as internships in the health
profession.
