Lane Community College offers free or nearly free introductory courses for high school students

FREE! BOLI/ODOT sponsored Civil Engineering Boot Camp

Are you a student who is interested in a construction, an apprenticeship skilled-trade, heavy highway, bridge, or civil engineering technology career? This course, through projects, trips and guest presenters, will introduce him/her to apprenticeship programs and their requirements, engineering technology concepts, skills, and technologies used in the transportation, heavy highway, and bridge industries. Pre-requisites: basic mathematics and reading proficiency. This free two-credit college course at Lane Community College is offered spring term, March 31-June 11, on Tuesdays from 2:30-6:30 p.m.

RTEC 101: Gateway to College & Careers* (3 cr), Tuesdays and Thursdays 1-2:20 p.m.

This course is for students transitioning from high school to enhance their college preparation and planning. Students explore strengths, interest areas, vital college skills, Lane Community College programs, and career options. Instructors will facilitate student connections with Lane Community College programs through arranged tours and guest speakers . *Tuition for Gateway class is $200.00 per person and is not part of the Sponsored Account Billing. Subject to change.

HRTM 100: Intro to Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management (3 cr), Wednesdays 3-5:50 p.m.

( Tuition-free; $100/student advising fee and textbook costs still apply )
This is an introductory course designed to provide students with a broad overview of the hospitality management and culinary arts industry and the various segments that comprise the industry. Emphasis in the course is given to understanding the scope and complexity of this industry, the career opportunities available, and the training and skills necessary to achieve a successful career.

See Mary Beth in the School-to-Careers office or Shannon Roseta in the counseling office to register for any of these courses. Some scholarships are available. Transportation is not provided by Lane Community College nor Eugene School District 4J.

LCC Placement testing in Reading & Writing schedule through Spring Break.

All testing will be at 8 a.m. in the STEM conference room.
Wednesday, March 11 thNo testing.
Wednesday, March 18 th – Reading & Writing Placement test.
Wednesday, March 25 th – Spring Break. No School.
LCC Math Placement testing will begin in April.
