Creative Writing Club

A friend writes:  “Creative writing is a way to express yourself, get into a new world and create something while experiencing universes beyond your own.” Come hang out with creative writers today after school in the library, and any Monday.

Indigenous People’s Day

Today October 10 has been declared Indigenous People’s Day by the city of Eugene and many cities across the US. Today we honor the strengths, struggles and values of Indigenous Peoples here and around the globe. We can recall that Indigenous civilizations were thriving on this very land for thousands of years by the time of arrival by settlers, and Indigenous Peoples continue to thrive in practices tied to this land and traditional beliefs and values.

Attention 10th Graders

If you have not filled out a blue half sheet registering you for testing day on Oct. 19 please see Mr. Grossberg in Room F37 or Mr. Meyers in the attendance office as soon as possible.

College Visits

Today, Northwest Christian University at lunch in F39 and Evergreen State College at 2:00 in F39         Tomorrow, Tuesday, Lewis and Clark  at lunch in F39                                                                            Wednesday, Oregon State at 1:30 in F39


If you are planning to bring a guest (non CHS student) to the Homecoming dance you must get a guest pass from the front office. It must have an admin signature as well as admin signature from their school. Don’t waste time, do it today.

Court Nominations

Nominations for CHS Homecoming Court will begin Wednesday, Oct 12 at lunch and after school in the locker bay. Look for the nomination table.

Club Advisors/Reps

Don’t forget the club fair meeting, tomorrow, Oct. 11 at lunch in room B17. If you cannot attend but wish to participate please send an email to Ms. Wilgus so we can allocate space for your club.


Last year we set a record for the largest attended dance at CHS. Can we do it again this year? Tickets for the dance will go on sale Wednesday, Oct 12 at lunch in the locker bay. Cost for tickets are $10 per person with ASB and $15 at the door or without ASB. Autumn Night’s Homecoming Dance is on Oct. 22 from 8-11 p.m.

Spirit Week

Spirit week is coming Oct. 17-21! Here are the themes for each day:

Monday, Oct. 17 – ‘Merica Monday – Wear your patriotic gear,

Tuesday, Oct. 18 – Team Day – Wear your favorite team color, shirts, etc.,

Wednesday, Oct. 19 – School wide testing but you can come in “Woke up this way p.j.’s: make sure school appropriate,

Thursday, Oct. 20 – Throwback: Fresh/Soph dress from the 70’s, Jr./Sr. dress from the 80’s – This is a class competition so let’s see which classes have the most participation!,

Friday, Oct. 21 –  Fight Cancer – Pink Out – deck yourself from head to toe in pink. Show your support.  This is the same as the game theme so let’s really support the cause!


Voting for the senior graduation song is today during lunch. We will also be selling Churchill shirts for $5. There is a limited supply so don’t miss out!
