Peacehealth Mentorship: Attention Sophomores!
Are you interested in a career in medicine and want to gain experience
and money for your post high school education? Consider applying
for the PeaceHealth Youth Mentorship Program! This is a wonderful
opportunity for students. Two Churchill sophomores will be chosen
for this unique 2-year opportunity. Students must have limited financial
means for education or training beyond high school, and meet some
other criteria. Contact Meredith
Shepard in the Registrar’s office for applications and
additional information. Applications will be available around the
first of March.

Sophomores and Juniors, are you considering playing sports in college?
Bring your parents to the Career Center and find out about the college
athletic recruitment process.
Seniors
Scholarships
Lots of wonderful scholarships are now available in the Career
Center. Don’t miss out on all the opportunities that are posted
on our bulletin boards and the booklets of scholarships for Oregon
residents and Lane Community College students.
LEAP
All seniors must complete a LEAP (Lancer Extended Application Packet)
to fulfill the new state career related graduation requirements.
Students should meet with their staff advisor and complete this
activity as soon as possible. See Betsy in the Career
Center for additional information.
Community Service
Many Seniors have NOT completed the 60 hour community service requirement
for graduation. Hours should be turned in to the Career Center ASAP!
Financial Aid
It is time to file the FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student
Aid! The FAFSA is the only way to qualify for federal financial
aid and needs to be filed as soon as possible. It is also a requirement
for several other scholarships so pick up a form in the Career Center
or go online at www.fafsa.ed.gov today!
Juniors
The Junior Project
Juniors should have finished the Junior Project in January. If
you missed this valuable project, stop by the Career
Center today! Completion of the Junior Project is a graduation
requirement for the Class of 2008.
Leadership Opportunities
Juniors, dust off your resumes and consider applying for the Rotary
Youth Leadership Camp. Watch the bulletin boards for additional
information.
SAT Test Prep
PSAT scores are available now in the Career Center. If you would
like to boost your score, consider taking a test prep class. Classes
are offered through independent contractors, the U of O, Sylvan
Learning Center, and Kaplan. All Juniors considering a 4-year college
should take the SAT or ACT this spring. Stop by the Career
Center for registration materials and additional information.
