Visit the Lancer Library online, Anytime
The library homepage at http://schools.4j.lane.edu/churchill/library/
is a gateway to many excellent resources: VIA, the catalog for the
library’s books, online subscriptions, online encyclopedias,
and useful Internet links. A fast way to get to the homepage is
to do a Google search on “Churchill High School Library.”
The Lancer Library is usually the top hit!
An e-book improves access to important resources
The Lancer Library recently acquired its first e-book, the Worldmark
Encyclopedia of National Economies. Students can access its articles
by going to the library homepage and following the links that say
“Gale Virtual Reference Library.” When not at school,
use the InfoTrac password, churchill4. Though this e-book is our
first to be packaged separately, we offer access to many other e-books
through our online subscriptions. Two of these subscriptions, InfoTrac
Student Resource Center Gold and InfoTrac Opposing Viewpoints, contain
articles from numerous reference and other books, searchable by
keyword. These online subscriptions also include magazine, journal,
and newspaper articles. For the passwords to other online subscriptions,
pick up a bookmark at the library.
Seniors...
time to check your library record
We encourage all seniors to check their library record and get
a jumpstart on getting ready for graduation. To access your library
record (including library and textbooks checked out as well as unpaid
fines), go to the library homepage, click on VIA, select the “My
Library Account” link, and enter your name and student number.
Donate a book and honor a graduating senior
Look to the lower left of the library homepage for the link to
the “Library Wish List,” a list of books designed to
make it easy to donate a book to the Lancer Library. If you have
any questions about the process, contact Julie or Sam at 687-3103.
Once again, the library homepage is at http://schools.4j.lane.edu/churchill/library/.
Sincerely,
Julie Vignoul, Teacher-Librarian
