Staff Bulletin: February 7, 2005

Don't forget! If you have articles you want to get in the March newsletter, please email them to Karla by this Thursday, February 10th. Also, if you are having student presentations or anything special going on in your classrooms this week, please let Karla know so she can come take photos.

The deadlines for the last two newsletter issues of the year are: April G'Lancer: Due March 8th May/June G'lancer: Due April 13th

CAMS! Please get your brochure changes to Karla by this Friday, February 11th, or let Karla know you don't have any changes. We need to get these reprinted asap.

We will have our staff meeting during our late start this Wednesday, February 9th, beginning at 7:45am in the library. You will be emailed the agenda.

Curriculum areas will be meeting during our late start next Wednesday, February 16th to finalize department budget requests for next year and finalize any curriculum revisions for the '05-06 curriculum handbook.

There is a joint Site Council meeting next Wednesday, February 16th, at 3:30pm in F55. This is a normal Site Council meeting time, and Curriculum Council members are invited to join them to make their case for their respective department budget requests.

Those departments who were not present at the last Site Council budget meeting last week (Special Ed, Lancer Communications and Music)
need to get their budget requests to Karla by Wednesday, February 9th.
You may also want to be present at the meeting next week to make your
case for your requests.

Just a reminder - all Curriculum Handbook changes are due to Karla no
later than Friday, February 18th. Final revisions to department copy
and content will be made during the Curriculum Council meeting on
February 16th. Please make corrections/deletions on hard copy, or if
there are additions you can indicate where they should be inserted and
email Karla the text. If you have questions, check with Karla.

The CHS 8th Grade Curriculum Presentation night is tomorrow, Tuesday, February 8th, from 7-9pm in the auditorium.

The CHS International High School 8th Grade Curriculum Presentation night is this Thursday, February 10th, from 7-9pm in the auditorium.

The Jefferson 8th Grade Parent Information Night & Curriculum Fair is next Wednesday, February 16th, from 7-9pm in the library.

The Kennedy 8th Grade Parent Information Night & Curriculum Fair is next Thursday, February 17th, from 7-9pm in the library.

Congratulations to Jack and his wife on their newest addition! A daughter.

Department Curriculum representatives should submit purchase orderrequests for this year's remaining budget balances by Friday, March

18th. This is the Friday prior to Spring Break. Please see Karla if you have questions.

If you schedule events/happenings here at CHS, please be aware that there is a new "system" in place to schedule the facilities.

All of the "rentals" and usage of the building (including clubs, sports, testing, parent meetings, curriculum nights, etc.) that happen IN the building are still handled by Karla. This includes ALL areas of the building (except the wrestling room, the weight room and the fitness center). But now, they are not only entered on a master hard-copy calendar, but also online at highschoolsports.com. Therefore, the master building calendar is not available in Karla's office to just come by and browse through or write in. This ensures that everything on the master calendar gets posted online.

If you need to schedule a room or area, check out highschoolsports.com first to see if it's available, then email Karla with your request. Your request will be processed faster if you put BUILDING REQUEST on the subject line. She will email you back to let you know the status.

Winter formal is this coming Saturday night, February 12th, from 8:30-11:30pm. Chaperones are still needed so please contact Cindy Wilgus if you would like to help out.

Winterfest is happening this week. This mainly consists of music and activities during lunch time.

We will be hosting our Human Rights Day on Thursday, March 17th (St.Patrick's Day). There will be a special schedule for this day and will be listed on the weekly calendar (for that week). It will be a 1/2 day AM Human Rights classes and 1/2 day PM regular classes schedule. If you have questions, check with Cindy Sainz.
