Mudd! Minutes/Notes
- Doug said that he is the official CIM pest.
No CIM samples have come
in yet. He's going to continue to pester the staff to turn
in their CIM
work sample scores to Darcy.
- Cindy reported on Sheldon, South,
and North's progress in regards to
the new state graduation requirements. Sheldon is farther
along than we
are. The discussion focused on advisory and senior project
models. It
was suggested that Betsy attend the next meeting in order to
share what
she's already doing to address this.
CIM Outcomes - results of last year's data
- general observations - it was unclear what
exactly the data
reflects. When were the failure statistics taken from?
Where is the
Science CIM data? How about SPED? No info was given for graduation
rates, college entrance, and AP/IB stats.
- What are the current percentage breakdowns
of your demographics? How
can we focus on our economically disadvantaged students?
What are we already doing?
- Read/Write, ELL - literacy, SPED programs,
tutoring in science and math
- Tom is interested in expanding
peer tutoring into working with the
middle schools. Perhaps the student tutors could get class
credit or
fulfill their CRLS? How about bringing in retired teachers
or booster
club folks to tutor our kids? Are there grants to fund
this?
- Attendance plays a huge role in the achievement
gap issue. If a
student physically doesn't show up for class then he/she
obviously
can't do the work.
