Minutes:
- Theresa read the minutes from 2/15; these were accepted
by the committee.
Leadership:
- Students still want to have Spring Pep Assembly on
March 2; Hareem will see if they can plan it that quickly.
Hand mural is up on the wall & looks
great. Mr. Lancer boys went to visit the hospital today. Exec. Leadership
met with leaders from other schools to plan a large 4J high schools
Tsunami Relief
program (ie. Battle of the Bands, silent auction, art sale, food sales).
They are looking at May 8. Relay for Life is scheduled for May
20.
Old
Business:
- Hallways -we will be moving forward with a plan to ask students
to only be in the Student Lounge area during classes.
Work on science wing will begin as soon as the end of April.
The district is drawing up potential plans to address the drop-off
situation in the front of the building. We are also thinking
that we need to add
visitor spaces in the front of the buildings.
- Attendance –students
seem to be dropping a class when they go on a long vacation and re-enroll
when they come back. We will talk
to counselors
to see what they know about this situation; students could be in
line for reduced
credit; should have been a pre-arranged absence.
New Business:
- Mr. Kelly visited to request that 11th and 12th graders
who did not meet standard on writing assessment need to be re-tested.
He is proposing
to
take period 2 on March 7 and period 6 on March 8 to pull
students out of these classes
to do the make-ups in the cafeteria. Students who are close
to getting their CIM will be contacted in advance with an “invitation.”
Open:
- Concern about not impacting too many Red or Blue
days with disruptions.
- Hats off to the Dance Team for a successful contest; however,
some teachers were concerned about the mess left in their
rooms.
- The new add/drop forms have a space for teachers to sign-off
that
a book
has been returned; this needs to be revised so that the library signs
for the book
verification.
