The Operations Committee during 8th period. Present were: Dennis
Biggerstaff, Don Cataldo, Joe Cavanaugh, Lynne Given, Teresa Hilkey,
Doug Kelly, Karla Nelson, Hareem Park, Julie Stelle, Audrey Wigmore,
and Larry Williams.
I. Calendar
- The calendar was reviewed for November.
II. Leadership
- Hareem requested that leadership students have an exchange
with Sheldon to maintain relations with the Sheldon student
body and to learn the operation of each others campuses.
- Our Leadership will go to classes at Sheldon on Mon, Oct 18,
and the Sheldon Leadership students will come to Churchill for
classes on Wed, Oct 20. It was approved.
- Leadership also requested a dance in the hall on Friday evening,
December 10. It was approved pending appropriate arrangements.
III. White Day Discussion
- In the discussion at our last meeting, several options were
raised. The options discussed included a community service day,
a career day, mini-courses, or a late start with an afternoon
activity. This week, after further thought, we agreed that we
will pursue an alternative for the White Day.
IV. Staff Meeting Agenda
- We reviewed the October 13 staff meeting. Agenda items include:
United Way, Committee reports, Eric Jensen Brain Research Team,
Special Ed, Group Agreements, and Staff Process Advocate. The
agenda will be finalized in the next week.
V. Supplies
- Beginning next Monday, Oct 11, the supply closet in the main
office will be available to staff from 7:45 am to 8:20 am. Staff
may sign out supplies from Robbie, who will be stationed in
the supply room.
VI. Open House
- Notice to parents will be sent via Language Arts classes on
Thursday, Oct 7, for Red day classes and on Monday, Oct 11,
for Blue day classes.
VII. Student of the Month
- Operations will decide a Student-of-the Month at each of
the four grade levels from the candidates submitted to Cindy
Wilgus. The senior that is selected will be presented to the
Register-Guard.
VIII. Open Agenda
- Students that are parking in violation of rules will be towed.
- Skate boarders are a problem after school. Historically,
we have exhausted nearly every option in trying to discourage
this. Maybe the only option remaining is to fence the courtyard.
This is not preferred.
- The Staff Lounge is occasionally closed for meetings. If
there is a meeting in session, feel free to enter to get coffee
or water or whatever.
- Discussion of Graduation of Exchange Students: To get a diploma
(walk), the student must be 1) a member of the senior class,
and 2) be successful.
Minutes respectfully submitted by Don Cataldo
