Return to Minutes Index

Present

  • Dennis Biggerstaff, Joe Cavanaugh, Don Cataldo, Theresa Hilkey, Hareem Park, Cindy Sainz, Audrey Wigmore, Julie Stelle, Lynn Givens, Karla Nelson.

Dennis read the minutes from the previous meeting

  • Is it possible to list parents' email addresses on ESIS? Dennis will continue to check on this. 2. November dance in halls on the 19th. 3. Still looking to find a good date for Powder Puff Football game. Cindy will contact NEHS.

Calendar

  • Corrections and additions were made to the calendars for November, December and January. Please consult calendar.
  • Old Business: Nothing other than that referred to during the reading of the minutes.

New Business

  • Leadership report from Hareem Park: Again, Dance on November 19th in the halls with a "Barn Dance" theme was approved. Leadership will be collecting food in their annual food drive beginning late November or early December. Kudos to leadership on Fall Fest and Homecoming.
  • Gym use procedures. A request from Jennifer Pleuss that teachers be reminded that the gym is a classroom and we are not to send/allow students to be present during the classes held by the P.E. staff. If a teacher is interested in bringing a class to the gym, please contact the P.E. staff in advance. 4th and 8th periods are particularly problematic with students/athletes interrupting classes.

Open Agenda

  • Cindy Sainz is compiling a list of all clubs at CHS. The district requires paperwork on all clubs operating at school. If you are advising a new club, please contact Cindy to be certain your club is in compliance.
  • Student of the Month. Discussion occurred regarding recognizing students of all grade levels here at Churchill as well as the Register Guard Student of the Month, and what procedure we will use to decide these honors. More to follow.
  • Theresa Hilkey, staff advocate, reported a concern from a staff member regarding free pizza lunch days. Is it a valid use of $$$? Should we continue? Change the menu on occasion? Perhaps change the venue? Agreed to continue the benefit, maybe with other menu offerings, or with a new location, or mixer activities to make it more of a team building activity.
