Minutes from last meeting were reviewed.
Leadership;
- February 18th will be Sadie Hawkins Dance.
- Canned food drive is still currently going on. There is VERY low
turnout. Please continue to support the students and give
incentives.
- Pit Crew: Fear the Dome shirts are currently available for order.
There are 50 students interested in participating, so far, in just
a few days. It was suggested that the adult shirts be a different
color than the students, so the students feel 'special' and
unique.
- Mr. Lancer is gearing up. The theme will most likely be a
beach-y / summer-y one. Doug suggested we remember that
this should be a diverse process and really involve all students, not
just a few and not just Senior Girls voting. Rainbow Coalition.
There should be more of an involved process, including application,
voting, skits and program, etc. April 21st was checked and is
an approved date (no Baseball / Softball games that evening).
Old Business;
Parking... students are angry because we are not ticketing /
booting and that there are teachers / staff not using their reserved
parking spots --- that those spots are unused. If you are a
staff member who is not using your reserved parking spot, please see
Karla ASAP.
New Business;
PBS: Doug Kelly presented Curriculum Council critical incident
responses and discussion points that will be happening during next
week"s Curriculum areas meetings. Also discussed was the student
leadership / unions reps meeting regarding language and attitudes
around respect, etc. Whole School Dialogue: what language is
and is not acceptable in our school. This would be centered around
an assembly schedule and would be presented in individual classes with
discussion, sharing, and thinking and teaching the values we want
to create at our school. This would be similar to the assembly
schedule we use for review of the Student / Parent Handbook. The
group agreed that this is a very important thing to do for the climate
and culture of our school. Tentatively, we will have this assembly
schedule on Monday, December 5th.
Process Advocate;
Concern around CIM emails regarding "haven't these kids done
something that will fulfill these requirements"... these
requirements need to be done officially without begging teachers to
sign students off just to get our stats up. There is a process that
needs to be followed. There is also some feeling that the students
need to be responsible for their CIM, also. This issue will be
discussed at Curriculum Council in the near future, including how to
spread the worksamples / recording around so it's not just a few
departments responsible.
Staff follow procedures when booking the computer lab for class or
taking your class (spontaneously) to the library... staff
are not using the sign-up sheets for the computer lab, and it"s
unfair to library staff to dump classes.
COW's have come home... OK, maybe not home, but they are
going to be ready for check-out soon!
