Minutes

Dennis Biggestaff summarized the minutes from the last
meeting.

Leadership

• The dance on November 19 has been cancelled. The new date is
  December 10. It will be a "Glow Dance" with black lights, glow sticks,
  etc. Time of the dance is 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. in the halls.
• "Umbrella and Warm Clothes" Drive will run from 11/15 to
  11/24; Leadership will give the clothing to local shelters.
• The Food Drive will take place from November 29th-December 10th.
• Powder Puff is on December 2nd at North.
• Sheldon exchange is happening. Our leadership kids are visiting
• Sheldon on Wednesday, November 17th. Sheldon students will be visiting
  on Tuesday, November 23rd.
  

Old Business

• Clubs - A list of clubs with advisors and meeting times is posted in
  the Career Center.
• Announcements - some concern expressed that announcements are too
  long; Cindy will work with Julie to develop a weekly program.
• Students of the Month - A student has been selected for this month. A
  new process for selection is still being formed.
• Human Rights Day still in the discussion phase.
• Lunchtime activities still looking for someone to oversee intramurals
  in the gym.
  

New Business

• Dennis presented plans for the new science wing. There was a
  discussion around the importance of having windows and natural light.
  A concern was raised about doing the right thing for teachers who may
  work in the building for many years. The original design of Churchill
  and the cost are factors in the district's choice of plans. Dennis will
  talk to the architects.

Open

• Club advisors should see Karla about reserving school facilities;
  please don't send students.
• It was discovered that both science and math teachers will be out of
  the building on Friday, November 19th. Dennis will get subs for the
  math teachers. All math classes will be held on Friday. Administration
  will look into how this happened and make sure that curriculum council
  dates are brought to operations.
• The play, "Our Town" will not be performed in December. The new dates
  will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
