Minutes
Calendar
-
LSU requested a dance on January 14th. There
is Girls Basketball at
home that evening, as well as a drama performance. LSU is requesting
allowing Springfield HS students attend. Cindy will do more
checking on
this and bring to next meeting. If allowed, this would most
likely be
done on a 1-1 basis.
-
Curriculum Council dates of events, such as
last week's staff
inservice trips, meetings, etc. should be checked with Julie's
calendar
to ensure there are no conflicts. Julie's calendar is more
"activities". Karla has the building/facility calendar.
-
Human Rights Day -- we need to find a date
for this. It was discussed
earlier in the year to possibly incorporate this with the White
Day we
have in the fall for next year, but that was too late for this
year.
The 3rd week of March and January 31st were discussed. These
dates will
be explored and discussed at the next meeting.
Leadership
-
Sheldon exchange -- Our leadership kids are
visited Sheldon on
Wednesday, November 17th. Hareem shared that the atmosphere
is very
different, some due to physical facility differences. Sheldon
students
will be visiting CHS on Tuesday, November 23rd.
-
Leadership wants to have a table in the hall
preceding winter break
to hand out goodies, like candy canes. This was approved.
-
The umbrella drive is going well. It will go
through Wednesday,
November 24th.
-
Prom is gearing up. Prom fundraisers are beginning.
They requested to
sell stickers in the halls starting next week and voting for
a prom
theme will take place in the student lounge next week during
lunch.
These were both approved.
Old Business
New Business
-
APISU requested to sell food in the halls during
lunch. How this may
interfere with the food services contract we have was discussed,
and
what would be acceptable to sell. Small items and desserts were
agreed
it would be OK to sell. Cindy also wanted to clarify that it
is OK for
student unions to apply for financial assistance from Leadership.
This
was also discussed and agreed.
-
Parking, traffic flow and the crosswalk was
discussed. Dennis is
checking into the crosswalk situation.
-
ESIS -- It seems that this last year teachers
are not getting their
absence reports, as they did in the past. It was inquired as
to if
there used to be a report that is not available now with the
current
system, or how teachers can get these reports again, Students
who miss
a period should have to bring an excused slip (they would get
from the
attendance office) to class to be "re-admitted" and
to show the teacher
that their absence was excused. Cindy will check with Daire
on the
absence report issue.
