Process Advocate
Concern about student talk about parties and weekends
in class. Some who are attending seem to be athletes. Teachers
are concerned about Drug and Alcohol education. What are we doing
about athletes attending parties. Administration will have a
conversation with the A.D. and the coaches. If staff knows who
individual athletes are that may be involved, the names should be
reported to Tim.
Eligibility question our understanding is that the
school goes by the OSAA standard, which is currently enrolled in
five classes and passed at least 5 the previous semester. Individual
coaches can have higher standards for their own programs; and some
do.
FTE question should we set a lower limit on the size of classes.
For example, when classes are small, should we eliminate the class
to achieve equity. There are some specialty classes that may have
lower limits, ie. ELL, special education, certain high level classes,
etc. We are looking at 2nd semester numbers to see where we might
adjust. In terms of the bigger picture, we do try to look at over
all numbers, for example, when a teacher has a small class by design,
they may have a larger one another period, so overall numbers are
more balanced. Going to an absolute minimum size might have the
effect of eliminating some important options for students and for
our school.
White Day request to have a White Day schedule on the first
day of school for lst day of school and the lst day of new semester.
This would allow us to get through new rules, syllabi, etc. We
would still need to have the I.H.S. related White Day schedule on
the 3rd Friday of the year. We will discuss this again next month
with Old Business. Staff is encouraged to respond via email.
Meeting adjourned @ 2:40.
