Churchill High School Senior Class Newsletter

⏱️ The Final Countdown: Graduation Day and Your Next Chapter

Churchill Class of 2026 and Families,

We have officially reached the finish line! As of Friday afternoon, our amazing seniors have wrapped up their final day as Churchill High School students. We are incredibly proud of this class and cannot wait to celebrate their achievements with you on Monday night.

Because graduation day marks your transition from student to alumnus, please remember that if you need to visit the school from now on, you must check in at the front office.

With so many moving pieces coming up on Monday, please take a quick moment to scan through and digest this entire newsletter. We have updated several critical details regarding ticket pickup, tech returns, and arrival times to ensure everything goes smoothly.

As you prepare for Monday's big event, please keep two essential "day-of" tips in mind:
  • Rehearsal Attire: The mandatory 9:30 AM rehearsal at the Hult Center is casual. Students should NOT wear or bring their caps and gowns to the morning rehearsal. Save those for the evening!
  • Gown Prep: Cap and gown packages have been folded in plastic and will be heavily wrinkled. Please take the gown out of the package this weekend and hang it up (hanging it in the bathroom during a hot shower is a great way to steam out wrinkles). Do not iron the gown directly, as the heat will melt the fabric!
  • 🚨 Strict Hult Center Prohibited Items: To ensure a safe, dignified experience and an unobstructed view for all families, the Hult Center strictly prohibits certain items inside the venue. Please ensure guests leave balloons, air horns/noisemakers, outside food, and large signs (larger than 11"x17") at home or in their vehicles.

Let's make sure all our remaining logistics are squared away so our graduates can focus entirely on making lifelong memories at the commencement ceremony they have worked so hard to reach!

Graduation Information

🎓 Official Diploma Pickup Day

The moment you've been waiting for! Official diplomas (the actual legal documents) are not distributed at the graduation ceremony; they will be available for pickup later in June.

  • Pickup Date: Thursday, June 25th
  • Summer Office Hours: Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (Closed Fridays)
  • Who Can Pick Up: Diplomas must be picked up by the graduate. Students do not need to bring any special documentation. Parents or guardians cannot pick up a diploma on a student's behalf unless the student contacts our registrar, Gisselle Trappett, in advance at trappett_g@4j.lane.edu or 541-790-5108.
  • Diplomas by Mail: Any diplomas not picked up by Thursday, July 2nd, will be securely mailed on Monday, July 6th, to the mailing address provided in the senior survey, or to the address on file in Synergy. Please note: Diplomas will not be mailed to students who still owe school property; they will remain on hold at CHS until all items are returned.
  • Property Holds: Diplomas will be held if a student still owes any school property. This includes laptops, chargers, Wi-Fi hotspots, library books, and textbooks. If you still have these items, please bring them with you to the office to clear your account and collect your diploma.

💻 Laptop & Charger Returns

Now that senior classes have wrapped up, please remember that all graduating students must return their school-issued computers and chargers to receive their diplomas.

  • When to Return: You can still return your laptop and charger all next week during regular school hours, as well as during the first week of summer break.
  • Summer & Beyond: If you need more time, you can also return your devices at any time throughout the summer. Our official summer office hours (Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM) will officially begin on June 22nd.
  • Alternative Programs (ECCO, GED, or EOA): For your convenience, devices can be turned in at the Churchill front office or at the ECCO building all summer long. Because summer schedules can shift, please call the ECCO building ahead of time at 541-790-6850 to confirm their hours before dropping off.
  • Summer Credit Recovery: The only exception to these rules is for students participating in summer credit recovery. You should keep your computer and charger until all of your summer graduation requirements are fully complete.

👗 Dress Code & Cap Decorations

Now that seniors have their caps and gowns, please review these quick guidelines to make sure your attire is ready for the ceremony:
  • How to Dress: Plan to wear a nice shirt, pants or a skirt, or a dress under your gown. Remember, your gown must be zipped completely during the ceremony. Your mortarboard (cap) should sit flat on top of your head.
  • Watch Your Step: You'll be walking up and down stairs for the procession. Please choose nice, comfortable shoes that are easy to walk in.
  • Cap Decorations: Personalizing your cap is welcome, but decorations must be flat (2-D) and feature a school-appropriate message. Puff paint and craft jewels are fine, but things like flowers or standing structures are not allowed.
  • Honors & Regalia: Academic honor cords will be distributed by your program advisors. Culturally significant regalia (such as leis or eagle feathers) are appropriate and welcomed.
For visual examples of what to do (and what not to do!), please view the full How to Dress for Graduation Slides here.

♿ Hult Center Accessibility & Accommodations: Last Call

We want to ensure that every family member can enjoy this milestone comfortably. The Hult Center offers a variety of resources to support guests with mobility or sensory needs, but time is running out to make official arrangements.

How to Request Support: If you haven't done so already, please fill out the Hult Center Accommodation Request Form immediately. While the venue will do its absolute best to accommodate everyone, please understand that last-minute requests may not be able to be fulfilled due to venue capacities and seating charts.

Available Resources include:
  • Mobility & Seating: Reserved seating areas for mobility needs, wheelchair spaces, and size-inclusive seating.
  • Sensory Support: A quiet serenity room to take a break from the crowd, and sensory bags equipped with noise-canceling headphones and fidget toys.
  • Hearing Assistance: Assistive listening devices compatible with T-coil or headphones.

Arrival Tip: The Hult Center lobby opens at 6:00 PM. Please plan to meet your entire party outside the doors so you can enter together, as every guest must have a ticket in hand to enter.

Skybridge Access: For those with mobility needs, the 3rd level of the Hult parking garage features a convenient skybridge that leads directly to the concourse entrance.

🌐 Interpreter Services (ASL & Spanish)

We are pleased to provide professional interpretation services to ensure our ceremony is accessible to all members of our community. Since the window for advance reservations has closed, please coordinate directly with the teams on-site:

  • ASL Interpretation: A designated seating section will be available with a clear view of our ASL interpreters. Upon arriving at the Hult Center, please request assistance from the ushers in the lobby, and they will happily guide your guests to the correct section.
  • Spanish Interpretation: Families wishing to hear the ceremony in Spanish can pick up a translation headset in the lobby. Please check in with the Spanish interpretation team upon arrival to secure your equipment.

💾 Before You Graduate: Save Your School Data

Seniors: When you finish your graduation requirements, your 4J accounts will be closed. This means you will lose access to StudentVUE, Canvas, your school Gmail, Google Drive, and other 4J accounts. Now is a great time to start saving your school data so you don't lose access to your hard work and memories.

Google Files, Emails, and Contacts
Using Google Takeout, you can export a copy of your content from your school account to a personal Google account or download it to your own computer.

Pro-Tips for a Smooth Transfer:
  • Be Selective: You don’t have to take everything. You can choose to only export specific services like "Drive" and "Gmail" to save time and storage space.
  • Start Early: Depending on how many files you have, the export process can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. Don't wait until the week of graduation!
  • Storage Space: Make sure your personal Google account has enough free storage space to hold the files you are transferring.

Xello and other 3rd-Party accounts: If you use your school email for your Xello account login, please change it to a personal email address so you can still access your plans after graduation. Do the same for any other accounts (like college applications or testing sites) that use your school email to log in.
