Attention 10th Grade Families!
All of our 10th-grade Lancer students will be taking the PreACT on April 9th. This important assessment helps students get a feel for the ACT and gives important insights into their academic strengths and career interests. To learn more about why the PreACT is a great opportunity for your student, check out this short guide from ACT:
On Testing Day (April 9th), students should bring:
- Three sharpened No. 2 pencils with good erasers
- A watch (if they have one, non-smartwatch) to help pace themselves - no phones
- A calculator for the math test (optional, but allowed)

Honors Diploma Recognition
Seniors - Honors Diploma applications are now available! The application and community service logs are due to Kari Ludington by Friday, May 15 at 4:00 p.m. Students must complete the application and log in order to earn the recognition. Paper applications are available in the Student Support Center. See your School Counselor with any questions.

The UO SAIL Summer program will be releasing the registration application on Wednesday, April 1. These are free summer programs hosted on the UO campus, where high school students learn about various subjects from UO faculty members through fun, social and interactive activities. Middle and high school students can now apply to work directly with professional designers in fields like Comics, 3D Printing, Costume Design, and Architecture. This free, 10-week after-school program requires no prior experience and concludes with a public showcase of student work.

Registration is now open for Lane Community College’s premier career exploration event. High school students can dive into interactive sessions—choosing from fields like Automotive, Welding, Construction, and Computer Technology—while meeting local industry professionals.

Northwest Youth Corps is partnering with local labor unions to host an exclusive career fair for students interested in apprenticeships and job training. This event is specifically designed to introduce students to rewarding paths in fields like plumbing, electrical work, ironworking, and painting.

Oregon students in grades 6–12 are invited to participate in the annual Kryszek Competition, hosted by the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education. This year’s prompt asks students to engage with the oral histories or memoirs of Oregon Holocaust survivors to create original works of art or writing. Grand prize winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to visit the Holocaust Museum in either Washington, D.C. or Los Angeles. Submissions are due by April 18, 2026.
