Dear Churchill Families,
As we close out another successful school year, I would like to take a moment to recognize the many accomplishments of our students, staff, and community. This Monday, we will celebrate one of the most significant milestones of the year as we honor the Churchill High School Class of 2026 at graduation. We are proud of our graduates and look forward to recognizing their hard work, perseverance, and achievements as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
Throughout this school year, our students have demonstrated remarkable growth, resilience, and commitment both inside and outside the classroom. Whether through academic achievement, athletic competition, artistic performance, leadership opportunities, or service to others, Churchill students have continued to represent our school with pride and excellence. Their accomplishments reflect not only their individual efforts but also the support of our dedicated staff and families.
It has been a privilege to serve as part of the Churchill community this year. I have had the opportunity to witness firsthand the exceptional work taking place across our campus each day. The commitment of our teachers, support staff, administrators, students, and families has created a positive learning environment where students are challenged, supported, and encouraged to succeed.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the entire Churchill team. I have tremendous respect for the educators and staff members who consistently place students at the center of their work and strive to make a difference every day. Their professionalism, dedication, and care for students have made a lasting impression on me, and I am thankful for the opportunity to have worked alongside such an outstanding group of individuals.
Thank you for your partnership and support throughout the year. Serving the Churchill community has been an honor, and I will always value the relationships and experiences I have gained during my time here. I wish our graduates, students, staff, and families all the best in the future and hope everyone enjoys a safe, restful, and well-deserved summer break.

As we approach the end of the school year, the 4J Technology Department requires certain students to return their district-issued devices (iPads, laptops, etc.). Returning these items helps protect school resources and avoids replacement fees!
-
Who Needs to Return Devices: * All graduating 12th-grade seniors
- Any non-returning students (moving out of the district)
- Any student currently using a Macbook Air 7,1 (these models are being decommissioned due to outdated security requirements)
-
Where to Return: Please bring devices and chargers to the Front Office on campus before the last day of school.

Our Marine Biology students wrapped up the school year with an incredible, hands-on learning experience: a deep-dive shark dissection! Working in groups, students utilized safety gear and specialized tools to examine the anatomy of these fascinating marine creatures firsthand. This interactive lab gave our Lancers a unique opportunity to apply their semester of classroom knowledge to a real-world biological study.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Crews for organizing such a memorable, engaging final project!

With schedules shifting for summer, it’s a great time for students to build healthy habits while having fun and growing their independence—whether that’s walking, biking, rolling, or riding the bus. Here are a few tips for getting around this summer and beyond.
What to Ride? E-bikes and e-scooters can be lots of fun and help students get around independently, but not all are legal for everyone or legal everywhere. Click here for quick tips.
- Age limits vary by device, but none are legal for youth under 14. See the City website for specifics and note that new laws go into effect in January.
- E-moto vs. e-bike: If it goes over 20 mph without pedaling, it’s an e-moto and is only allowed on private property. E-motos are not legal to ride on paths, streets or sidewalks. Some may look like e-bikes, so be sure you know what your student is riding.
- Helmets are required for riders under 16, no matter what they’re riding.
Don’t forget—walking, biking, and riding non-electric devices are another option for fun and mobility that are great for your health and good for the planet, too.
As for riding safely, no matter the ride, speed matters. Higher speeds means a higher risk of serious injury in a crash. Know how fast your student’s device can go and make sure they have the skills they need to avoid hurting themselves or others. Encourage them to travel at safe speeds and stay predictable and aware.
🚌 Looking for a fun and affordable way to get around? Ride the bus! It’s easy for families to explore the community together with free student passes and Lane Transit District’s Dollar Days of Summer. During July and August, adult fares are just $1.00/ride or $2.00/day pass. With a free Student Transit Pass available at your school’s main office, students can ride free all summer long.
We encourage all families to stay active, be safe, and have fun exploring this summer—we’ll see you in the fall!
